Lets say kids ages from 6-14.

Define an age/gender (yes a specific one) and detail precise chores that you have them do on a daily/weekly basis. Either rewarded or not rewarded.

I'm lucky enough to have them assholes pick up their clothes off the floor every now and again or make them bring their plates back to kitchen sink etc.

frick an "allowance"

Builds up the entitlement mentality early.

He's 16. Have his arse get a job. His "allowance" is food and a roof.

$20 that’s it?

You should be paying him more. Kid is working his arse off

Or maybe it builds a sense of accomplishment, pride, and money management.

One thing is for certain, though, you are one tough mother fricker for making your kids do stuff because you said so.

11 - girl. Cleans her room, sweep/vacuums, windex windows. I do not pay her for it.

I do give her a little money for straight A's or A's & B's. She doesn't get shite if she has a C on her report card. She's never had one though.

As long as their grad s were good (and they always were) we were light on the chores. I told them their education WAS their job. With that, they'll always have a shot at a good life- assuming they don't make the obvious bad decisions.

2 kids under 12. Keep all their shite picked up daily. They fold and put away their own clothes. Put away dishes from dishwasher. Saturday morning is usually our cleaning time and they do whatever we're doing. Not long and the older one will be learning to run a weedeater.

We've slacked on allowance lately, but when we did, we made sure that they knew it wasn't for chores (dave ramsey thinking). Chores are for taking care of your stuff and handling your responsibilities as a member of this house. It was so they could learn how to save and spend.

Cut grass and took out the trash. No allowance. Dad owned a business that I would have to clean Saturday mornings from 8-12. That got me $25.

Son is 7. He dries off dishes from the dishwasher and puts them up. He also picks up dog shite and miscellaneous help that I need done. He and my daughter pretty much get what they want (within reason) so not a set allowance. If I feel he has earned something he wants then he will be rewarded.

My daughter is 3 and she is a lost cause.

I remember when .49c got you a gallon of gas and cutting yards got $5.00. Point being, you may need to adjust for inflation.

16 yo son:

His own laundry, cleans his room, rotates cleaning bathroom w/ sister, cooks every once in a while, sweeps and vacuums downstairs and cleans kitchen table. No allowance, but I’ll pay him for additional stuff like working in the yard, garage cleaning, etc. He has a job.

14 yo daughter:

Her own laundry, dishes and cleans kitchen, rotates cleaning her own bathroom, cooks a couple of times a week, vacuums upstairs occasionally, helps mom with grocery shopping. $20/every two weeks (mainly because she has dishes permanentlay)

5 and 3 yo daughters...still working on it
