most perfectly engineered automobile on the road...

While I agree about being able to hot lap a 911 until you run out of tires, brake pad or fuel I can't go with perfectly engineered. The engine hanging out the arse is arguably the worst starting point for drivetrain layout there is for a track car. The fact they have honed it into a car that is easy to drive fast without changing the layout is a testament to stoic Teutonic obduracy. Put the HP into a Cayman and it will eat a 911s lunch, but I still love the 911. Anyone that has driven a 964 or even a 993 (especially a Turbo) at the limit has probably learned first hand the bowel emptying feeling from snap oversteer. I once came 3 feet from kissing Mrs. Armco in a 964 and it was a full 2 minutes before I had any idea what and how it happened, I was initially convinced someone had pissed oil or antifreeze on the track.

The 911S is a great car. But the best pure track machine money can buy is the GT3 RS.

My dad has a 96 and he's driven it since 97. Fielded countless offers since then. Best diesel ever made

Assuming we are just staying with the 911 the GT2 RS will scorch a GT3 RS and since you said pure track the GT3 Cup will destroy even the GT2 RS. We are talking 6-7 sec per lap on even a moderate HP track like Road Atlanta and it Cup would do it with a 480hp NA engine.

The 3 RS cars have some advantages, though they are fewer than in the past, and while for many they are still a more pure drivers car (NA and can be had with 3 pedals) the GT2 RS is just a different animal on the track. That said they are both difficult to purchase new and the 2RS is pretty much unobtanium not only price wise but allocation wise.

One can drive a 911 GT car as a daily but honestly, there are few people that will especially if you live anywhere without perfect roads, which rules out most of the nation.

For every-day fun, a 964-based Singer.

For special occasions a Jaguar XKSS (which is a street conversion of the D-Type racer).

Unfortunately even if you're very rich, these cars are very difficult to acquire.

I know someone down here who owns one. It's a work of art!

Yes, the GT2 is a behemoth, but the GT3 is normally aspirated. Absolutely amazing.

Know the owner pretty well, he's from Canada and lives in Ocean Springs. IIRC this is the last true manual GT3RS. He is also friends with the Doc with the white GT-R with 1500 hp. One of the group just got a new white NSX you'll soon see around also.

I don't what those engineers at Coventry were thinking but time was definitely not very important to them.

Got it now It makes sense since it greatly reduced sprung weight, but damn. Was that design a D type holdover?

That 2 door variant of LC never came to the States but you can now buy them through import companies like Landcruisers Direct. As long as they are at least 25 years old cause of US stupid import rule. Usually they are right hand drive & have excellent Turbo-Diesels which we never get here. I second that though, LC’s are the perfect vehicle.

After being on the German merry-go-round for about 12 years, I settled in on a 991 911S as a daily driver. For me, it’s perfect...and bulletproof compared to the Audis and Bimmers that came before it.

McLaren 600lt.
Totally useless and a waste of money.
That's what makes it wonderful.
