Perfect daily for me. About 475 hp and AWD. The transmission is fricking awesome. Great shifting action. Decently quick before the boost hits, but once the turbos spool up its seriously on another level. Like "my brain isn't processing information quick enough for me to keep my foot in" quick

It's the best purchase I've ever made in terms of material things.

Probably around 2500 give or take. Probably around around 3500 or so to get to the full 1 BAR of boost.

Right on.

I have yet to see an attractive looking crossover. Nearly every wagon ever made looks as good or better than the sedan version of the same model.

Virginia so easily gives felonies for driving too fast,

wut

In Virginia it's an automatic reckless driving (my bad, class 1 misdemeanor, not a felony) if you get caught driving 20+ mph over the limit (easy to do around here) or driving faster than 80 mph. Yup, you too can be a convicted criminal if they catch you doing 81 mph in Virginia.

Meanwhile, unless posted otherwise, the District-wide speed limit in DC is only 25 mph.

Don't know if it's perfect but I sure do love to look at it and fantasize.

Just about any Porsche is a great choice. Every car enthusiast should drive a 911 at some point in their life (especially an air cooled one). Those cars are built to be driven hard on the regular. It's one of only a handful of cars that can be both your daily driver as well as a track toy. I've had zero issues with the two I own (09 Cayman, 14 Carrera S) over years of driving them both to work and the racetrack. Keep in mind though, if you do track a Porsche with any sort of regularity, you're going to be throwing money at tires and brake pads.

I also have a soft spot for AMGs. The sound of a high revving flat-six is glorious, but there's just something about a big, angry v8 that does it for me (especially the old 6.3). Thankfully, I'll be scratching that itch in about a month when I take delivery of a 19 C63s sedan. It should be pretty hilarious driving a c-class with over 500hp and only 265 width rear tires.

2018 ZL1 Camaro. Makes 625 lb-ft of torque at 2800rpm. Bought one last year and it’s a fricking hoot to drive. Can’t wait for my local drag strip to open this month. Maybe a Barber Motorsports track day in the future...car is way more capable than I.

Give me the 911 Carrera 4S and I'm a happy man

For me it is a 911 but the Turbo S. The true everyday supercar. It is as fast 0-60 as anything stock on average pavement and is easy to drive fast but still just hairy enough at the limit. The engine responds well to mods (at least compared to most German cars) and you can beat on them at the track on a regular basis not have to worry about 5 figure bills to maintain it after a track day.

For a used buyer, they are a dream, almost always low miles and with maniacal maintenance and they drop $100k off list in no time but then hit a nice long glide path. The ballers that buy them new usually load them up with 30-40k in options but that adds little to resale so you can get a 3-4 year old one for a song compared to the $200k base list.

They have more track cred than pretty much any other car.

911s go through the ugly teenager phase but after that, you can keep them until you die and they only get cooler (unless it is a 996) and you can likely make money on them if you keep them long enough.

Oh, and the cockpit ergonomics are sublime.

Not really bewildering at all. Inboard brakes offer a host of advantages compared to outboard brake setups. It's a reason many race cars use this configuration.

Sprung mass and weight, reduction in heat, more efficient, and packaging are the main advantages.

Another big advantage is braking torque is transferred directly to the chassis instead of the suspension. But heat is really a con. You have to do a lot of engineering to get proper airflow over them and they cook quicker when stopped much faster than hub mounted rotors.

While just preliminary specs the numbers on the Tesla Roadster are mind blowing.

0-60 1.9
0-100 4.2
1/4 8.8
top speed over 250
max range over 600m

They only have to get in the ballpark of these numbers to make it a serious world beater at the 200k price tag

I think I have my perfect car

I had a yellow Disc in the 90s that was as reliable as a meth addict that just won the Powerball. Sold it and bought a grey market Defender which was more reliable because it was more simple but you could see the panel gaps from space.

I would love to have a Series LR but the prices are out of hand.
