re: What is your least favorite airline?

AW and USAir were bush league airlines that should have been extinct prior to that merger. They were kept alive artificially by pols in certain states, similar to some other airlines that should have been gone long ago. The success they’re having now is because of the AA model.

That is only partially true, and a very small part at that.
Which part?
AMR when into bankruptcy protection in 2011.
Merger with US Airways in 2013.
Doug Parker and all took over.
I know you work for them but I don't know what's false with the above.
And ya, those airlines you mentioned above from all accounts sucked
ETA: Doug Parker has 3 DUIs. Good grief.

I fly American 4-6 times a month for the past year, and the only problems I’ve ever had have been caused by weather.
When I get stuck on American eagle its fricking awful though.

don’t get the hate for Delta. I’ve never had an issue with them.
I really don't think the hate is for Delta per se. Probably it's Hartsfield Atlanta. For many of us in the SE, we fly back home through AH. Us travelers have been visiting some fabulous locals and arriving into Atlanta is the big ole reminder that we are, in a larger sense, home. It's depressing as frick.

Anybody who doesn't say Spirit, has never flown Spirit.
Spirit has the newest fleet of planes of any airline, that is more important to me than if the seats are comfortable, and a free soft drink. Some of the other air carriers are just junkyards in the sky.

US Airways which was the worst domestic airline IMO.
I used to fly about 5 round trips a year from either Charlotte or Charleston to Phoenix and flew on delta or American before I flew us airways. After the first time I flew us airways, I wouldn’t fly anything else. 757s from CLT to Phoenix were GREAT after flying On those god damn md-80s American flew.

Used to bbe United, but I r century flew American. Holy shite, that was terrible.
Posted on 6/18/18 at 5:34 am to Prix560
United and not even close. Only reason I ever fly them is they fly direct a lot of places other airlines don't.
I prefer Southwest or Delta.

Ain't no way that someone who has consistently flown can say Southwest is the worse.
One bad experience, maybe. But SWA has the nicest and best looking flight attendants that I've seen from any major US airline.

air canada was by far my worst experience.... will avoid them again at all costs.
I have flown spirit and really don't see why they get so much hate. The seats are slightly smaller I guess, but it's a budget airline..what exactly are yall looking for here?

Ever flown Spirit? It's like Auchwitz cattle car-tier levels of comfort.
HOWEVER. To get to SD, I had to change planes in Houston. Sounds simple, eh? A five minute departure delay in Tampa (that is what they said it would be), slowly morphed into a 90 minute delay. But not to worry, they told all who were anxious to not miss our SD. Connection in Houston - the folks there were aware of our delay and would hold the flight in Houston until we got there. So we finally left Tampa. No frills but a flawless flight (90 min late). Arrived in Houston and we ran to the SD gate, grateful they held our connection (so they said). The ice princess at the Spirit desk said our connection had left Houston on schedule, said she knew nothing about what Tampa Spirit promised about holding the flight. Told us they could put us up in a hotel to spend the night. Or we could just deal with it. They refused to book us on other airlines. It was Sunday night, about 9pm. The next Spirit flight to SD was not unti Monday night at 9 pm, 24 hrs later. Oh and they would transport us to and from the Houston hotel for free. I was told take it or leave it, as were we all.
I spent a frustrated and angry night in Houston, and managed to book a next morning flight to SD on United. On points. I swallowed the cost of the Hou to SD Spirit connection.
They wound up sending all of us a $50 credit to use later. I let mine expire, unused. The SD to Tampa return on Spirit went without a hitch.
If I ever fly Spirit again, it will never be anything but a direct flight, no connections or stops. They are dishonest and unreliable.

I used to really hate United (corporate books my flights) but they've (mainline United) improved drastically in performance and compensation (when they don't perform) the last couple years.
American Eagle and United Express equally suck arse though. I've had to make the drive from IAH back to Lafayette quite a few times because United Express just couldn't handle the 35 minute flight.

Flown Spirit round trip New Orleans to Detroit. No problems, no worries, no delays. 2 hour flights, cheap as all hell. Still cheaper than anyone else after paying a few extra bucks to reserve window seat.
Flew Allegiant last month, round trip to Pittsburgh. Same deal, 2 hour direct flight, $118 for round trip. Only thing was the first departure was delayed by about an hour and a half, but they let me know about it by text and email well over 8 hours in advance, so I planned accordingly... had the whole row to myself and a free second bottle of booze on the flight back.
I think the deal with those bargain airlines is to only take direct flights-- a connection would be too dicey. But the quality of the flights themselves and flight attendant service are no worse/better than any other airline, and the prices are a lot cheaper.
Oh, and United SUCKS the most. Something ALWAYS goes wrong when we fly them-- delays (including an extra overnight stay and missed day of work) and lost/delayed luggage....

quote:This is what I think as well. I couldn't complain about Spirit's actual flight and the service aboard en route. But it was the dishonest way they handled that 90 minute delay that was supposed to be connecting with a different flight in Houston en route to San Diego (my destination) that poisoned the well for me. Nothing on Spirit, ever, except direct flights. And if I can get in the price ballpark with SW, Delta, United, or AA, I will opt for them over Spirit any day of the year.

Delta, because they destroyed what once was the best airline, hands down: Northwest.
