I haven’t had too many bad experiences.
Worst one I had could we probably American flying out of Baton Rouge where they had mechanical problems while on the runway and brought us back to the gate, wher we sat for about 8 hours. Not fun with 3 kids in tow. Saving grace was getting upgraded to 1st class for the eventual flight out and they did at least spring for food vouchers which covered a meal each for us and would have covered a second should we have still been in the ground for dinner.
I’ve heard a lot of complaints about Spirit but haven’t flown them. Flying as a single could be doable on there but the seat costs of guaranteeing multiple people sit together are ridiculous.

Delta. They fricked over Memphis.
Wasn't their fault. Consolidation was forced on the industry. Memphis is way too close to Atlanta and not as important as Cincinnati, which was reestablished as a focus city recently.

I’ve never had a problem with American. Southwest has always been terrible. My favorite by far was Virgin. Only flew on them 5-6 times but very enjoyable compared to competition but now they are gone

As long as the flight doesn't get delayed/cancelled, Spirit can actually be a pretty damn good deal for people who don't expect any frills and are packing very light.
Bought my wife a round-trip Spirit flight from Atlanta to Orlando about a year ago to visit her sister there. I can't remember why, but she didn't even have to bring a carry-on (very quick trip I guess...). But it was like 90 bucks. Both flights were on time, so she was very happy with the experience (considering the price).

Spirit Airlines is like Satan’s a-hole

I don’t hate Delta due to any problems with the airline itself.
But I do hate that the hub is Atlanta. That airport sucks and is always full of delays.

UNITED! Almost every time have had issues with them. Won't fly with them anymore regardless of the circumstance. I've had some issues with American and Delta. Never have had a problem with Southwest nor Alaskan.

We all have had bad experiences with different airlines, but back in the day, Southwest was great.

I've been late 23 out of 37 segments with them over the last 7 years. I also know that I'm totally an unlucky exception. Their service is alright for non frequent flyers. But they have to be my least favorite by default.

Since I’ve been stuck in Charlotte for 8 hours and unable to get home for a Father’s Day dinner, my vote goes to American. Oh and it’s about 85 degrees up in this mutha

Delta. They stole firearms. Pathetic and non caring.

Spirit sucks. Besides the obvious (which I can deal with), they don’t have that many flight so if (when) they cancel a flight (often) you’re SOL

Any domestic airline that’s not Delta, Southwest, JetBlue or Alaskan is the correct answer.

Flew Spirit from NOLA to Atlanta. Half the people had some type of hip hop playing at full volume on their phone but they where all different "artists". I have never seen fingernails that long or ornate in my life on some of the female passengers. All I could think of was that movie. I truly feel sorry for the air marshals on Spirit. The best airline I have flown, by far, was Dragon Air form Tokyo to Beijing. The service was great and the flight attendants where wonderful. Everything about that flight was good.

American bought US Airways which was the worst domestic airline IMO. Guess they adopted the US Airways model.
They merged and the US Airways execs took over. Not AA. AA was in bankruptcy. They kept AA as brand with better recognition.

I flew Spirit once and had the Big Front Seat stop it wasn't bad.
Normally I always fly Delta, but I had to do a last minute emergency trip to Louisiana with my wife the next morning. It was either Spirit or get price gouged by Delta. Opted for Spirit, paying a little extra for the front seat and it was fine.

Delta employees will lie to your face, with the evidence that they’re lying right in front of both of you, with a big smile.
Also, and this is particularly true in Delta’s Atlanta hub, if traffic is stacked up on the tarmac and you’re on a Delta plane, you’ll get to watch every other airline pass you. It’s like ATC hates Delta too.
Edit: And the previous poster on this page who said they were late about 2/3 of the time is correct. I think they find ways to alter the numbers they report to look better.
Flying Delta out of Newark is hell.
