ETA: My folks live in a heavily wooded area... and they would still dive straight down and yank squirrels off the bird feeder.

Same here. Sadly they are presumed extinct at this point. My favorites are hooded mergansers and woodthrushes.

We live in the country and have a jungley back yard we have feeders and enjoy the birds for me I love listening to the mocking birds sing and the wife has a pet Cardinal that eats fruit form her hand.
