Meh, Ive lost 10 pounds since Nov and my diet has been terrible.
So I guess being stuck inside in mudseason is my main impediment.

Go to the gym and offset that. I mean I don't think I could eat an entire medium pizza/have the desire to, but part of the reason I go to the gyn is so I can eat what I want to and not get fat.
You can’t offset a consistently bad diet in the gym. Weight is gained and lost by diet, fitness is determined by activity.
If you’re working out hard, your metabolic environment can be such that you can tolerate far more calories, by burning some and turning much of the rest into lead body mass.
Even then, you’re not going to from fat to “fit” while eating too much bad quality foods.

I refuse to allow my kids to waste food, so I eat it over the sink
I'm also in the best shape of my life right now, so I really don't monitor my diet as closely as I used to

I like the taste of good food and the eating experience but I don’t live to eat.
This is probably the real root of my problems: I live to eat. This is going to sound like depression (because it is), but most days, my meal is the only thing I look forward to and one of the few things that brings me any pleasure or enjoyment. I eat emotionally, and have a bad habit of soothing with food.
Cooking delicious “plate lunch” style meals for myself is one of the few ways that I am able to effectively care for myself and give myself a little joy. I am trying to get better at controlling portions, but I don’t know if I could meaningfully switch to a significantly healthier rotation of recipes. Everything I do is meant to be cooked in one or two big batches per week and then portioned out throughout the week and reheated in a single-serve container in an office microwave. My “healthy” meals don’t tend to taste near as good reheated like that than gumbo, red beans, or pork chops & gravy.
To change my diet would require me to wholesale change my cooking schedule, techniques, recipes, ingredients, etc. It would not be a simple transition/decision.

That’s why you see so many dudes in the weight room with massive arms and a beer gut

I like pasta and cheese. So sue me.
In all seriousness though… I just need to eat less per sitting. The quality of my diet is decent just too much food.
And the talk about processed food is no joke. Stuff is garbage. Your body knows what to do with Whole foods

You have to change your whole mindset, perspective, and psychology about food. Look at is as eating it for sustenance, not pleasure.
Also, unless you are extremely active, you don’t need to eat 3 meals per day. I’ve only ever eaten 2 my whole life outside of when I was really trying to pack on muscle. I played sports nonstop for the first 20 years of my life too, although I think I needed to eat more for energy

you realize how much time you'd have to spend to work off 2000 calories? If he's eating one of those 2 or 3 times a week he ain't losing weight by going to the gym.
Yea, if he's eating them 2-3 times a week, no he's not going to lose weight. Someone with those eating habits isn't going to the gym anyway.
I was just assuming it was maybe once a week. If you're eating 2-3 whole Pizzas a week you got issues.

I usually only eat two, and often just one and a half (a decent sized lunch and a small snack for dinner).
I have been trying to change a lot of things over the past year. I’m not saying that it won’t be done, but I have tried to make incremental changes that I could stick to rather than huge wholesale changes that I’ll quickly give up on, and some of those changes have been successful, others mixed.
It’s hard to look at eating not for pleasure if you’re struggling to find pleasure literally anywhere else.
Obviously, I need healthier coping mechanisms, or to not need to cope in the first place, but it’s a work in progress. I am incorporating noticeably more exercise into my daily life. I am being more conscious of how much I eat as I try to ratchet down portions. I have significantly reduced my liquid calories by significantly reducing my alcohol consumption and cutting sodas down to 1 or 2 per week (no caffeine, and no hfcs).
