Teenage years in Houma, we would fill up the back of the truck with rocks from the railroad tracks and ride around chunking them at signs and stuff. One of our favorite things to do was to chunk them at Jonny Rizzo’s furniture store until the alarm went off, then we’d run to a pay phone and call the cops complaining about that God Dam alarm going off at Rizzo’s again.

While on my high school senior cruise in the ‘80s, I caught a big Ameiva lizard in Puerto Rico and smuggled it onto the ship. The cabin steward accidentally found it on the last day when we were back in port when he took the cover off the ice bucket I had it in, and he freaked out when it jumped out the bucket. I came back from breakfast to find a bunch of ship officials and customs officers in my room. I denied everything, said someone must have put it there to prank us, then found it under the bed after they all left the room. Successfully smuggled it off the ship and onto the plane from Miami back to La. Found out later it could have been a $10,000 fine for smuggling live animals from another country.

Was getting gas at the Shell station on Vets and Causeway. A car with 4 brothers pulls up says "Yo dog, how do we get to the French Quarter?" I didn't like being called "dog", so I told them to take Causeway north(this was when there was still a toll both on the South Shore), pay the toll to get into the Quarter and just keep going. Hope they had a good trip.

While in grad school coaching football at an out of state college, I lived in the dorms rent free - off the grid and unbeknownst to the housing department (with the help of a football coach and a master key). Plan almost unraveled when a campus security guard busted me at 2am with a half naked co-ed and empty silver bullets littered about (the entire 6 story building was supposed to be vacant over Christmad break). Was able to smooth everything out eventually. That's the day I earned my new nickname - Costanza.

Convinced a friend that I was drinking water when I was really drinking straight vodka. She asked for a sip and proceeded to take a big gulp and was quite surprised. Then tricked the same friend into doing it again about a week later by telling her I was drinking straight vodka and she didn't believe me, thought it was water and that I was messing with her, and she took a big gulp again. Not my brightest friend.

Don't know if it qualifies as an actual caper, but while in grad school was able to cite a few precedents and get a traffic ticket and open container citation thrown out. I think the judge was amused at my Vincent Gambini-esque effort and showed mercy to be honest.

In a moment of drunken shenanigans, I changed to Superdome scoreboard to 69-69 in between games of the LHSAA high school championships while texting my buddies to look up and watch. Childish, but slightly humorous nevertheless.

Throwing caution to the wind, threw a series of keggers our senior year to finance senior trip. Cleared between 3-4K if I remember correctly.

I still crack a smile (and cringe) when I'm teaching liability and criminal/civil law to my classes.

Came back to visit Lafayette for a few days during college. Met a girl while out that night and we checked into a hotel at like 4 or 5am (she paid for the room). She got up early to head to work. When I went to check out they basically told me I had the room for the next night too, so I was in there again 12 hours later with an ex-gf - on the first girl's dime.

Senior year at CHS, me and six guys told our parents we were going to the movies and took off for NOLA. Had a blast, got drunk, chased skirt etc. On the way home, buddies car broke down on the bridge about half way. Two guys had to hitch hike to a pay phone and call the dad of the driver. Only car the dad had besides the one broken down was a two seater. We all had to pile into the two seater for the rest of the trip. Lets just say his dad was not happy and made sure to explain the entire scene to each of our parents as he dropped us off.

Convinced this socially inept nerd (who kept trying to annoyingly hustle some coeds) that my law school roommate was their pimp (the girls went along with it).

He shows up at the house. One girl, dressed quite sexily, brings him out a tray with wine and a condom.

He is getting very hyped up.

Guy from school pounds on the back door, shouting "Police," shining his flashlight through the window.

We yell, "oh shite, it's the cops."

The kid runs out the front door, leaving his car out front, and runs away. He came back three days later for his car.

He left the girls alone after that.

ETA: The best part was that he called my roommate "Big K" after that - the "pimp name" we gave him.

In high school (2001, pre-9/11) a friend and I used to do the "bump game".

We would book a fully refundable coach ticket (Y fare) on flights we knew were oversold, go volunteer to be bumped and wait at a gate or two over.

If they told us to board we'd just leave and refund the tickets, if they bumped us we would take the compensation and then refund the ticket quickly for the new flight they gave us. Never ran into problems with the refund and probably racked up $5,000/each in airfare vouchers plus a bunch of free meals and a few free hotel rooms which led to some fun parties for a group of 16 year olds.

A friend who was a travel agent (and clued us into some oversold flights) alerted us that a notice had been posted in the major distribution systems about what we were doing in the DC area. That, plus 9/11 later that summer ended the fun quickly.

In mid 1980s on Florida blvd, after a night of partying at 2am. I narrowly missed a Sherriff’s vehicle. Quickly parked in a random driveway laid down in the front seat as cop drove past

Met a chick at Meps in Little Rock when we were both to fly out to Basic the next day, neither of us exchanged names or anything, one thing lead to another and we ended up with her on the counter in the bathroom of my room and we both walked away afterwards.
All I remember was, she was going in the Navy and I was MCRD San Diego bound.

Convinced my little sister dogs meowed and cats bark and she believed it for five years.

If motorcycle slip aways from police count...I have had quite a few from the super sport days. One in Tampa they had a chopper out after fifteen minutes of me not able to lose them. Luckily I hit a really crowded intersection and got to slide through and pulled into a business alley way and hid the bike behind the wall and went and grabbed food. I thought I was done on that one.

Another time I was coming back on I4 and they had a speed trap set up. I was around 100 so I bolted. I saw him getting into his car as I hit it going by. Was pretty decent traffic so had to do a lot of dodging then ended up on the side of the road riding the emergency lane praying no one pulled into it cause I was close to 140. I got away, so I went and ate(common theme) to let it calm down. Got back on the road, got in an accident twenty minutes later and went through the back window of a car. I thought I was going to prison...guess the original cop gave up quickly and didn't radio? Not sure how I wasn't done for there.
