I’m a 1981 child here.

I may not recall the news coverage of it, but I do remember bits of going through Hurricane Juan in 1985. I remember having to go by boat to my home. Luckily it didn’t flood as it was elevated, but the air conditioner and some electrical access went under water.

As far as news coverage, I remember watching the RNC convention on a shrimp boat with my grandpa on a set of rabbit ears on channel 4.

A hurricane, not sure which one. The man on TV said to stay inside. My mother ran over to the neighbors to borrow something and I was mad at her for breaking the rules.

42 here... this is probably the first one that caught my eye

Good lord, you would have been roughly 11 years old in 94. There wasn’t ANY notable event you were aware of prior to that?

For me it’s the Challenger explosion and, for whatever reason, baby Jessica

I basically lived outside... there was only one tv in the house and I only watched it Saturday mornings.

42 ... the fall of the Berlin Wall. I was six.

I more clearly remember the Persian Gulf War and the LA Riots.

The first news story I remember was the first moon landing. I distinctly remember Niel Armstrong’s first moonwalk.

I have a vivid memory of catching the breaking news in the living room that Elvis had died and ran to the kitchen to tell the family.

I also remember watching a documentary in the early 70s about the Austin sniper that happened years earlier.

Same age and same event.

Honestly, maybe Bear Bryant dying. I was a kid in Mississippi. Butterfly wings and I'm going to Bama a decade later.

Early 50s.

Nixon resigning

I was only about 5 but I remember being aware of how important it was, probably because it was all that blasted from the TV for a few days

Next was Jim Jones. I was a bit older by then and more more disturbed.

I vaguely remember Reagan. But the first real major world event I remember witnessing and comprehending as a kid was the fall of the Soviet Union.

I also remember Bush Sr's election.

1980 Presidential election. Also remember the Rams-Steelers Super Bowl, Darth Vader being Luke Skywalker's father and some other pop culture events from 1980 but I'm not sure that qualifies as "news".
