I worked as a farm hand for one day when I was 15. I backed a trailer full of equipment into a ditch because I was 15 and had never backed up a trailer and had no clue what the hell I was doing. I was written a check for my days labor at the end of the day and never asked to show up again. I wasn’t fired but I would have quit anyway. Thanks Dad for forcing me to work a job to build experience!

Stood on top of the office desk and whizzed all over the place screaming hallelujah.
Not really but it’s been considered when I used to work in an office years ago for a sucky boss lol

I got a job offer for a 20% raise with company car the morning I was to have a performance appraisal from a jerk of boss (Boss Hogg type)
We had discussed a raise but he always pushed it off to my performance appraisal.
Well we go through items and he’s docking me random points so that I score a 74 (which he wasn’t aware, he had to check the math) which is just 1 point below average, and then started to try to state “I can’t justify a raise based on the performance…” and I went all apologetic on him.
I didn’t realize I was so bad, I must resign immediately as your appraisal has shown me that I’m below average. You don’t need below average people working for you, you need to find assets that don’t jeopardize the company.
Then he started back tracking trying to raise the score, and I refused.
No, no, no…i’d feel soo guilty, you don’t need to try to help a below average employee, there’s bound to be above average people who could easily fill a below average person’s shoes.
How can I show up and be a detriment to the team? I need to get out of the way. And I couldn’t contain my smile so he realized that I was gone, and he called security and escorted me out of Exxon.
6 weeks later, after a few phone calls, the entire company was escorted off Exxon.

Not me, but I trained a guy with with bad attitude at DOW Chemical. He got signed off/certified, and a week later I got a call from my boss while on vacation, and he begged me to come in and fill his spot. Dude literally closed valves, walked off loading rack.

Stood up during a meeting with ownership, management, and staff, clapped once to get everyone’s attention, said, “I’m out”, walked out and never went back.
Owner was being flippant about an issue that impacted the pay of the staff. It was the last straw with a bad boss.

Did you have any colleagues that were good, hard-working people that depended on you?
Because if so, go eat a dick, you're a shitty person.

I grew up on a farm, so I didn't have "jobs" like most people do. I did work at Lowe's and Radio Shack for a little bit while in college, but when I quit those jobs, there was nothing special. Two weeks and see ya. God, those places sucked.
1st job - layoffs during dotcom burst
2nd job - company merger and relocation, opted to stay (glad I did, my boss was laid off within the year)
3rd job - company was run by actual criminals. Long story short, when I quit, they paid a severance to keep quiet about business practices. I got a call from GBI the same week I quit about other things happening in that company.
4th job - worked for myself, Obama happened, and I went back to corporate
5th job - layoffs to outsource product development
6th job - left when offered a job working with people from 5th job. Gave them several weeks and they still call me when needed. No reason to burn bridges.

I was 16 years old. Worked as a busboy at Cypress Inn near Benton. Owners were on a vacation and one of their sisters were brought in to manage the place while they were away. She earned the name BattleBitch within the first 10 minutes of a Friday night shift.
About 7 pm it was super busy and me and the boys had heard enough. We went to the bar, grabbed a few beers, tucked them into the pockets of our aprons, and walked out to the lake and started fishing. BattleBitch came out hollering about the tables that needed cleaning. We wished her luck and went back to our fishing. When the bosses returned the next week they asked most of us back.
21 years old, East Texas plywood mill. Had a boss tell me that if I didn't like him I should whip him. I did. Walked out a legend in my own mind.

Currently feeling this. Been at my place of employment for 2 years. Love the people but the owner is has refused to hire anyone to help me. I’m doing the job of 3 people but “we’re getting it done just fine”
Yeah, I’m spending 13 hours a day at this place. And work from my house on weekends.

Not a crazy story just very short term job.
Started a summer job at a local co-op my last summer in college that was meant to be part time as I was taking summer school, as well. I worked in the feed mill and it ran 24 hours a day. I asked for 6-8 hours a day and manager agreed. First day I ended up working 12 hours. Second day was 13 hours. Third day was 10 hours and I then told them I was not coming back as I had tickets to the A&M super regional against Clemson. Ags hit two solos in the top of 9th and hang on the beat Clemson 5-4 in the third game to make the World Series so it was a good decision.

I was teaching 2nd grade in the ghetto. I was their 4th teacher that year. I look over and Shawanda was digging in my purse. I immediately walked out during the middle of the day and never looked back.

When I was 19 I quit a retail job I had been at for a year by walking out with both middle fingers flying. I was a biochem major and the manager kept scheduling me 30+ hours a week when I was only available for 15 - 20 max with my studies. This was clear when they hired me. This went on for a couple months. When I noticed he scheduled me 30 hours during midterms week, I confronted him about it, he said he makes the schedule- not me.
“Put this on the schedule. I QUIT.”
Two weeks later he was begging me to come back, but I had already found a better paying job that did not depend upon over-scheduling college students.

Not as glamorous as some of the other posts, but I worked at a car wash/oil change chain during college in BR (you can easily guess what business I’m referring to). Worked there for about 2 years and got absolutely fed up with their ridiculous rules.
At the time they came out with some company policy regarding facial hair and haircuts. Had to be clean shaven, no long hair on guys, etc. We were also mandated to work Saturdays and Sundays for 12 hour shifts. We would either work from like 3 AM to 3 PM or 8 to 8. To top it off, I was the only employee at that location not in either a halfway house or on work release from prison during the day.
My GF at the time called and told me she was in the hospital after being robbed and got the shite beat out of her. I told my Manager and asked for the afternoon off to go see her; he reiterated we were required to work Saturdays and Sunday’s. I just responded with “Uhhhh….yeah. Got it”. Took my keys, walked to my truck and drove off. They fired that Manager and proceeded to call me a couple times a day for a few weeks; I refused to answer.

Not me, but this is one of the best quitting stories I have ever heard.
Friend of a friend was a flight attendant. She was on call and had to show up quickly when someone got sick, etc.
So, she gets a call and busts her arse to get to the airport as quickly as possible as the flight is delayed waiting for her.
When she gets there, some jerk in first class says. "I've been waiting an hour for you. Now you're going to wait on me.
She looks at him and says, "F-you. I quit. Let's see how long you get to wait now", and walks off the plane
Damn, this is a pretty bad arse move.
