Supper Club in Auburn was always a legit contender in these discussions, which makes it all the more depressing that it's gone

Yep. The Strutting Duck too.

boars head is awesome IMO and is up there for me. magnolias, georgia theatre rooftop, bourbon, allgood, and sandbar are the others that have stood the test of time.

Yep. There is a select group of bars in Athens that I refer to as "The Old Guard" that have been there ever since I stepped on campus in 2004.

-Bourbon Street
-Boar's Head
-Allgood
-Generals
-Walkers

Then you have some of the "newer" ones that have been very solid and are still thriving.

-Sandbar
-Magnolias
-Blue Sky

All the rest seem to rotate in and out of business every couple of years.

Fred's is my hometown favorite.

The Library in Oxford is cool, and Mad Hatter's in College Station is neat. Like Shotz in Fayettville, just because it was fun spiking the "glass". Athens is top notch as a whole.

I think Athens is the best town in the SEC, but I couldn't tell you the name of one bar from the two times I went there. My vote goes to Sky Bar. I've been the Auburn 4 times and always had a great time there.

Back in the day as a student, it was Allgood all the time. Now when I'm in Athens for something, it's always the Walkers/BlueSky combo.

Ugh I miss that place. They literally razed it to the ground a couple of years ago.

My brother was one of the managers at The Annex (and bartender at IVY's) in the late-80's. No telling how many rounds of darts and pounds of buffalo wings I had in that place over the years.

If Fred's is the best, I would hate to see some of the shitholes that are at the bottom of the list.

I've been out to the bar scene at LSU, A&M, Ole Miss, Miss St, Alabama and Arkansas. I'm partial, but I think it's hard to beat Fred's on the night before or after a game. Other than that, I've had fun at them all. They're all a slightly different flavor of the same idea and none have really stuck out to me. A&Ms bar district was probably the least appealing to me overall.
