What is the argument for weed being illegal at this point?

I'm just curious. Aint gonna lie a lot of these states, including (especially) our own Louisiana, could use the increase in tax revenue it would bring and the black market sales would significantly decrease.
At the VERY least it can be removed from being schedule 1. Like what?

We need to get blacks to say keeping weed illegal is racist.

Grandstanding for the old religious folks.
And still figuring out how to line the politician's pockets.

Don’t pretend like they drug test at your McDonald’s job. You can smoke. Just fix the fricking ice cream machine.

Law enforcement likes those budgets and conviction rates. Also the feds just don’t wanna back off for the same reasons I’m sure. I give it about 3-4 more years before it gets unscheduled.

Decriminalization has helped alot. Not too long ago, they would lock your arse up for a dime of shake. Now, they just confiscate/dump it on the shoulder of the road or write you a ticket.

Don’t be surprised if it’s republicans running on a platform to decriminalize weed in 2024.

Should really be a no-brainer at this point. Especially for a state like Louisiana where the revenue that will come from it can improve the state.
But like someone said, politicians are still trying to figure out how to line their pockets with chunks of that money.

The police make a lot of money off it being illegal.

Even in states where it is illegal, you have to be damn near retarded (or Black) to get arrested for it.
Was talking to a few Murfreesboro cops a week or so ago, and they pulled over an old man with a couple ounces in his truck. Old man just got off with a citation.
Cops don’t want to frick with that paperwork when there’s real work to be done
