Nit picking bullshite.

Rant time. Just had a truck driver piss me off.

This morning he comes and picks up a load. I’m 5 feet away from the back of his truck drop deck. He rudely asks me to smoke else where. Little while later he says he’s coming back for another unit we were still working on. I told him yeah the truck is ordered for 1:30. We push it back to 5. I know ole boy was gonna be pissed. The equipment wasn’t quite ready. So he waited an extra half hour. The whole time throwing his hands up getting all agitated. At this point I know he’s going to charge us for waiting so frick it. Let him wait. Then refused to take two pallets because he didn’t have straps. Then he’s going off on me about how piss poor the company was run. Up to this point I’ve not said anything to the guy. Was trying to do the paperwork so he was out of there faster.

I told the summbitch we order 20+ trucks a week and hardly ever have an issue. I don’t give a lick of shite if you ever come pick up in this yard again. fricking a-hole.

I work with a bunch of twenty-something frickheads with no life goals. No long term relationships, no children or family values. Most have roommates. They act like their time is worth something

how the company is very strict about overtime but will run its lower level exempt employees right into the ground

I don't work too much myself but can never get anyone to think about doing things better because they are constantly swamped.

listening to out VP or whatever of I/T bragging about them when they suck as bad as they do

Dealing with fricking sales reps.... that is all

Careful the OT is full of sales people and “consultants” might hit a few nerves.

Aha!

That fits. Sales reps are unerringly full of shite.

Do they have the funds for a family? Where are you located?

I'm wondering if they have a legitimate gripe here or not.

Constantly understaffed and management acts like there should be no dropoff in work product despite the ridiculously high volume of work everyone has. People get sick of it and burnt out and quit which prolongs the understaffing.

It’s not complicated. Staff yourself appropriately and you’ll come out way ahead over time. So much time and money lost having to hire and train new people, and so much knowledge/experience lost from people leaving.

I don't think I could work at a family business for this reason

I can't think of anything I dislike about my job.

Maybe that's why I've been there 27 years.

My wife used to own a business and I didn't even like going over there for lunch. I love her but damn I see her after work too. And she always wanted me to fix something

If I had one day left to live, I'd want to spend it at work. Because every day there feels like an eternity.

Around $10 mil. Small (around 30 employees) company that is in a specialized construction and engineering field. With it being a small family owned company it's nice to be treated like family, but at the same time they have actual family members working here so when decisions are made non-blood related family members get treated like the slow cousin.

Reason I asked you was because my family owns an architectural sign company so i always like to hear from employees at other small family owned companies. We're about a $6mil company and have approximately 43 employees. Most family owned, small businesses have the same problems from my conversations with other employees/owners. I wish I could find better talent all-around but I don't have the labor budget to do that. The ones that are the rock-stars, they get paid very well and then everyone else makes a living.
