Reason I asked you was because my family owns an architectural sign company so i always like to hear from employees at other small family owned companies.
I used to work for a small family owned business, like 50 employees, $10 million. The problem alot of employees had there was we were constantly treated like our lives didnt matter and it was all about the company so they'd call us on Thursdays and tell us we'd have to stay out on the road on weekends to catch up from bad weather while we all knew the baws up top went on a fishing trip. Its easy to get away with that kind of stuff in a corporate setting, not so much at a company like that. I was asked to move to Arkansas to manage a new branch and I asked about pay and was basically given the run around till they basically offered me $3500 than I was currently making but with the "potential to make more". Thats terrible management practice. So basically just treat employees like you'd want to be treated. Money is only a part of the equation for why someone stays at a job long term.
And before everyone comes in here talking about how it was in the 80s, this isnt the 80s anymore, if you want to keep good people, simply signing a paycheck isnt enough.
If a company has high turnover, its more often than not a management problem. Take good care of your employees and they'll take good care of your customers. If your employees are constantly "firing" you as a company then maybe you're doing something wrong. Just my $.02.

Overly cautious management...unable to manage risk assessment with clients.
Getting phone calls in the middle of the night.

Worst thing about my job are the absolutely endless time that we waste in meetings of all types. I probably spend more than 30% of my time in totally unproductive meetings that seem to have no purpose or positive outcome. If I could spend this time with my department, we could double our output every week.

I hate the older ladies that make twice my salary, that literally do nothing but walk around all day and eat lunch together in the break room.

My company recently merged with another company. The meetings at my old company were usually a waste of time but at least you usually walked away with some action item or knowledge you didn't have before. New company? Holy shite. I've never experienced meetings like these people run them....unproductive, yammering on and on and on, trying to sound important...you get off the phone from these meetings and have nothing to show for it. I've never experienced anything like it.

Sounds stupid, but I'm very free with my time. Im expected to cover my shite, but also no repercussions for being home by lunch if I take care of said shite. I make a good living and sometimes feel guilty when I'm home by lunch. Like I feel like I have to find busy work to justify my salary.
It's not all fun and games, I'm on call 24/7 and worked every weekend from Jan 1st to April 1st. But I didnt do shite today. Freedom is awesome, but as soon as you get it, it feels like you'll get fired soon, Haha.

QuikTrip has Grey Poupon by the hot dogs. I grab a handful every time I buy food there.

I hate my boss. Her job is her identity. Works 7 AM to 10 PM. Will call us at 11 PM at night to ask random arse questions that can easily wait until the morning. True mental illness. I’ve told her she truly needs medical needs help. Counting down the months until I’m vested in retirement and I can bounce.
I had a sadistic bitch of a boss just like this and finally quit. The thought of her still makes me sick.

Maybe I'm just nitpicking, but it is so annoying that all of my coworkers are just so freaking buddy-buddy. Yea it's cool that everyone gets along in the office. And I will always keep the peace and remain cool and cordial with everyone. But I have absolutely 0 desire in hanging with yall outside of the office every weekend. No, I don't want to go to your daughter's performance. No, I don't want to go to dinner with everyone. Hell no, I especially don't want to go to a sleepover with everyone.
It makes me feel like I'm an ahole sometimes, because I really try not to be.

Getting "leveraged" to work higher paying roles for months on end with not pay increase. Being told it is "good experience" . Yeah it was for the first 6 months......

I went from 4-10s to 5-8s, I'd love to go back to 4-10s.
