What is it with parents of autistic children leaving them unsupervised in upstairs rooms?

I have two neighbors with autistic grade school age boys. My back door neighbor was always leaving him unattended up stairs and he would open his window and hang out of it. I went over a couple of times and knocked on the door. They didn’t exactly appreciate me coming over. But eventually took steps to prevent him from opening the window.

Well I drove past another neighbor’s home and their son was sitting on the window seal of the second story room.

I stopped my suv and got under the window and tried to coach him back inside. The neighbor across the street had to practically kick the door down to get the dude up or to come to the door.

I realize you can’t always be on your A game but damn it just seems crazy to have this happen twice.

This seems like an extremely specific gripe

Why don't you go downstairs and ask your mom?

If it's flex seal, he'll be fine.

Not familiar with the window species of seal but it is likely pretty dangerous for a child to sit on one.

Maybe if you'd mind your business and let nature do it's thjng you could avoid this problem

My sister has an autistic kid. Until you have one I don’t know that you should say much. He’s pretty chill but will do some totally unexpected and illogical stuff. Can’t be prepared for everything. One time he literally just walked off in a mall when he was about 7 while she was paying. She turned around and his arse was gone. Took a half hour to find him.

When mine was a toddler we would hear a loud crash in the middle of the night and he would be standing INSIDE our 55 gallon aquarium. Happen enough times we had to get rid of the tank.

They do seem to have an infatuation with water. Several drown every year in Florida after wondering away from their homes.

We have an autistic kid that our entire neighborhood knows because his parents allow him to roam around all day long with no supervision. There’s been problems with him actually going into peoples backyards and getting aggressive with some folks. The cops have been called numerous times but say there’s nothing they can do.
