What? IVF is a medical procedure, just like plenty of other ones that help people daily.

Human tissue is grown in "petri dishes" for other procedures. Skin grafts for burn victims, for example, can be grown from stem cells and then applied to the injury site.

Adopting a baby costs more than IVF on average.

Also when you do IVF, you get to carry the baby yourself. You know that you’ve given the baby the best prenatal environment possible. Adoption is great, but you don’t know what the mother was doing while pregnant. Some people want that level of control when it comes to their children.

You aren’t alone

It’s sad to see so many people uninformed and unwilling to learn. Explains a lot about this country and where we’re headed.

Pray for a baby. If God wants you to have one, you will have one.

Oh boy did I pray. I prayed. I cried. I sobbed to my husband when I would see a negative test month after month after month.

Absolutely crumbled after our failed IUI cycle and my canceled IUI. Month after month, I'd look at tests in every which way to see if there was a line. And boy did I pray.

God answered my prayers in the form of IVF and a skilled medical team.

Like LSUBoo, I am so happy we went that route and we were blessed with a baby. We have 7 more healthy embryos on ice and will hopefully be going for our second this fall.

But shite, I guess I should have prayed harder huh? Maybe two years of actively trying wasn't enough?

If you believe the Bible, Sarah waited until she was 90 years old.

Really appreciate it! It’s been a process for sure but we’re staying strong. I had never even heard of this process until we went to a fertility Dr. But after doing my research on it I was amazed at how many people have gone through it.

so what does God think of kids who have been conceived via IVF? are they no longer god's children?

Heck if I know. I’m not a Christian.

Very curious to see how Republicans handle this.

You never know with that group. Well with both groups really.

Republicans: "We don't need no more laws telling me what to do. Ummm but if I don't agree with what other people do then we need government telling them what to do"

Democrats: "We need laws for everything. Anything that doesn't make everyone equal should be a crime. But when it comes with something we support the government shouldn't tell us what we can or can't do".

Its a fricking clown world because in reality, it all comes down to one thing. Elections. If they really cared about certain issues they would just do their fricking jobs and not create issues during election years (midterms and presidential).

Yes, but that was young in Bible time.
This HAS to be a troll, right?

The human life grows inside of the mother, just like any other pregnancy.

After the life is conceived in a petri dish. I worked for 4 years in porcine reproductive embryology research some of which is directly relatable to human IVF.

In IVF the fertilization (ie life beginning point) is done in the lab at which time in most instances the developing embryo is allowed to grow to either the 4 or 8 cell stage and then pulled apart - these cells are still pluripotent. Once pulled apart, one "lucky" cell is then implanted in the carrier (usually the mother but sometimes a surrogate) and if implantation happens in the uterus the pregnancy proceeds. If not, next cell up.

Now, that may sound like dumbassedness but that is the process.

I did the exact thing except in pigs trying to develop a way to do embryonic transplants to make moving genetics around the world easier like they have in cattle.

In cattle, you can flush a donor cow, transport the embryonic cells in a rabbit to anywhere in the world, flush the rabbit, and implant the cow embryos in recipient cows. Hog fetuses are too fragile, or were when I was trying to come up with a way to do it. Plus there was way more research money being thrown at infectious diseases.

Probably depends on your state. Kentucky fundamentalists want to ban IVF and access to contraceptives.
