In Texas, life now begins at fertilization. So what happens to the extra embryos that are created during IVF? Is the government going to find wombs for all of them? If you are only allowed to make 1 embryo per IVF cycle, the procedure would become prohibitively expensive. 2% of US babies are born via IVF, so if we care about life, there needs to be some sort of carve out for IVF treatment. Very curious to see how Republicans handle this.

Edit: The trigger law that defines life as beginning at fertilization will not go into effect for 30 days. I thought it was immediate. Still time for Texas Republicans to tell the fundamentalists to STFU and create a carve out for IVF.

There will be you can stop with the ‘gotcha” scenarios.

That assumes we have some adults running things. I guess we’ll see.

Ban IVF and tell couples there are a bunch of babies waiting on adoption.

I’m pro-life. My wife and I couldn’t have kids, we adopted.

It’s not that hard.

We shipped our leftover one to Texas to dispose of it, since you can't in Louisiana.

If that isn't an option anymore then I'm sure there are other states you can send it to for disposal.

Then why not call it out specifically in the trigger law they passed a couple of months back?

Such a joke that you had to do this in order to create a life.

Forever? What if the parent doesn’t want to pay? Does the state cover it?

Well, shite, if you did it, I suppose everyone else should want the exact same thing as you.

My understanding is the trigger law went into place today.

When we did IVF, we help on to a couple of solid ones as an insurance policy. I am pretty sure if you have gone down this road, you are probably gonna pay.
