National holiday doesn't mean Jack unless you work for the government.

He's working 4-10s and crying about a Friday, after getting Labor Day off? Sheesh.

Don't even get me started on how much of a sham the 4-10 work schedule is. Ain't nobody productive after hour 9. Then on Thursday, I want to say the actual percentage of people who even put in a full ten has got to be under 25%. They are bolting for the door at 3:59:59. And you know, they ain't at the desk typing away up to the final minute either.

That's fricked Rogue. You can't hold employees for a full work week because of a paid national holiday.

Wanna put money on that?

But he only will have worked 40 hours. 10 is Labor Day holiday pay, which does not have to be time and a half

If it is on a payroll check and he is an hourly employee he has to be paid for time and a half over 40 hours. If it is holiday pay it has to be paid on a separate check as such. At the very least it should be itemized on the payroll check as paid time off but in their eyes it's overtime.

Now what are the chances of them seeing this? Unless someone gets pissed off but regardless it's not a proper way to handle it and an owner should no better.

Hah no I do not.

Then again I haven't "clocked in" for work in awhile now.

Although, I am technically on call 24/7 . It would take a fricking catastrophe for me to get called in on a weekend.

Such as this weekend potentially

Honestly, if your boss says to come in, you go in. This year I've been summoned the night before for "emergency" situations that came up for places hours away. That's why I'm out of the service industry. Every situation was an "emergency". It sucks, but when you have to put food on the table, your options are limited on how pissed you can be because you have to work.

I sure would be looking for a new gig if that term was abused by my employer.

Same here.

1st year I took the job I currently have I often had to come in on weekends, 3am, whenever.

I fixed that real quick. So many people like to brag about how if they weren't at their job, the place would fall apart. That's bad management skills, the hallmark of a good leader is to create an environment where everyone is competent and you have plans and systems in place to run things smoothly without you there.

Like you said, it would take a pretty major thing to get me into work on a weekend these days.

We always had a schedule. If we went awhile without working weekends and we had too the boss would first ask for volunteers, if no one volunteered he would revert back to the schedule. 48 hrs is enough notice.

I work from home and they pile extra work on us daily, I just do what is asked because I'm a team player. If you care about your job and the boss says work needs to be done you do it and don't bitch about it. I've turned down management jobs though because I do not want the headache. BAW

This is easy. Tell boss, you told me I was off. I have been drinking, I am not driving drunk for you or anyone else.

You have obviously never been a leader or you are a shitty one who everyone hates.

A mentality like that creates a very toxic work environment.

Yeah that won't fly with the Department of Labor. Over 40 is overtime regardless of if they worked. If it is on a payroll check it has to be time and a half.

No it's not, and you are a dumbass for saying different to screw with the Op. You only get OT for actually working over 40 hours, any even shitty payroll software or company takes into effect Holidays and paid time off as not being included. If you have a holiday one day and take PtO another day, then yes you can get paid for 40 hours of work plus 8 hours of holiday pay at the Normal rate and 8 hours of pto at the normal rate for a total of 56 hours of work all at the normal rate.

It's a great way if you are hourly to make extra money in a situation that the company does not want to pay out OT.
