In shoes I'm 5'8 and 1/2 tops, but I guess my build has always made me seem bigger. At 9% bodyfat I'm 185-190 and don't look like a freak bodybuilder just big arse legs, arse, arms, shoulders and chest. And we just weigh heavy

I guess it's that eastern European German, Czech/slav blood.
I'm just literally a foot shorter than my huge arse cousins. But my mom's dad, their cousin was only 5'5, but her mom was 5'11". Then add in my 4'11" Sicilian grandmother on my dad's side and all that height is negated.

it must hurt when the little old ladies in the store go to ask you to grab something off the top shelf and then notice your height and then turn to look for someone taller

I just tell them if they don't my droppings drawers and giving me a hand, we won't need anyone taller.

Then when she's done, I just go grab a ladder.

Average height for guys is 5’9”, so I guess anything under that would be short.

Average OT male poster is from the land of short men (South LA) so I doubt that

All the men on dad's side of the family are tall. My paw paw was 6'6".

I guess we aren't South LA natives or Cajuns though. We've only been here since the 1930s.

My husband is 5’8”-5’9”. He doesn’t seem short to me. I don’t even realize our height difference til I see us in pictures. Then we look nuts.

Average American height is 5’9”

5’8” and below would technically be considered short

Haha. Being fat is mostly a self inflicted condition of poor health. One’s height is not.

Much like bullshite quotas and MBOs dished out by talentless hacks languishing in middle management, when >90% of all people cannot hit a benchmark by virtue of nature, the benchmark is meant to be missed.

What I have noticed is that many (not all) short guys have huge chips on their shoulders

They’ll use anything they can to gain a couple inches. Even carry around huge chips.

Now I have goals. I lied. I'm 5'7 and 1/2 tops. I'm gonna start doing yoga, inversion table, quit the pumice stoning my feet and grow my hair a tad longer. And I'm only gonna wear boots with 3 pairs of socks and and extra non-slip "pad" on the heels. shite, I may end up like 5'8 and 1/

I've always been on the short side. Didn't hit a growth spurt until 10th grade, and I topped out at a little over 5'7". I'm the tall one in my family. Taller than both parents and all my siblings. But still short. The last taller relative I can remember was my great-grandfather on my mom's side. He was over 6 feet and towered over everyone else.

I found that it actually compresses the spine and especially over time, makes you SHORTER. So I shot putted mine on a taller friend. Now we see eye to eye.
