They do. I take pride in the fact that I've achieved a lot in life despite being pretty short. Because of that, at this point, my height is a positive part of who I am. For others, it's really negative.

Pretty hard to separate the chip-on-the-shoulder part of it from just wanting to be with a taller man, though. So I doubt it 100% doesn't matter- but I don't blame you. Genetics are real.
I think online dating has made it worse. You get disqualified much more quickly that way, and the other aspects of who you are don't get a chance to shine through.

I'll round up to 5'8, but after a plane ride with a friend that's 6'8"...I'll will take 5'8" over 6'8" (unless it resulted in a pro sport career) anydamn day. Well, except for the day the water was up at the duck hole and I had to piggy back on him to my cypress tree. Of course, he had to get all the ducks.

I was with a guy for 9 years before I married that was barely 5’7
Height really isn’t important to me.
I’ve been hurt by tall men and short men.
When I’m ready to date again....height isn’t gonna be the top thing I look for. I obviously need to have an attraction there....but I find short guys attractive as well. Be a decent person and not a shady arse liar (cause I’ve dealt with that recently) and I won’t care that you aren’t taller than me.

I'm 5'-10" in my head, but probably more like 5'-9" in reality. I've always considered myself on the lower end of average. Something like 40%-50% percentile for northern European descent.

Overall, you're slightly over average. Probably have grown up with a bumch of corn fed, country bastards like me that think anything under 6'2" is short!! Wanna feel short? Go hang out with my great uncle Paul (Bunyan) and his 3 big arse, farming, polak/polock asses (both correct and both derogatory btw and technically they are Slavs or Slovak-which is also a town here my mom's family is from.

Cousin EDDIE- my age and I was taller and bigger until we we 14...6'9" 300.
That's mf'ers will fill a room and eat a 6 flocks of eggs and a hog at breakfast, a fricking cow for lunch with 500lbs of potato's and fixin's. Dinner just left overs with kielbasa which is served at ever meal. Not to mention 500 bud heavies in PM to wind down.
And I'll still whip all their asses.
