Rent was too high. Covid. Amazon, Shein, Temu, etc. Rowdy, unsupervised teens resulted in a curfew and rules like no hoodies or baseball caps which ticked off all the baws.

ETA: Fudruckers closed.

Meanwhile, Marriot Courtyard doing very well down there & AMC. It’s helps that Margaritaville, chasing Aces & Bass Pro are close…so maybe some Non idiots will redevelop it.
From the get go…they messed up. It should have drivable streets & apartments up top.

Why would that have changed things? It didn't work for Villagio. I wouldn't want to live right there. Riverfront would be nice-ish, but not cool enough to compensate for living in that area. Same with Spring Lake- I never even considered living there because of the surrounding areas.

Got chased out once. The second biggest lineman on our football team was in the back seat crying thinking his life was over.

This marked the downfall. There was nothing better than hitting the Boardwalk with the crew, getting a toaster bacon burger from BassPro Sonic, seeing a movie, then finishing it off with Coldstone.

First they closed the Croc store and I said nothing.

Then they closed Build-A-Bear and I said nothing.

Finally they closed the Hooters and there was no one to speak up for me.

Honestly though, an outdoor mall in LA was never a great idea to begin with. It's either too hot or too cold 330 days of the year to walk around more than a few minutes.

Hooters was my last visit there. That was 2017 and there were already signs the area as a whole wasnt doing great. Id imagine covid wiped out any chance it had.

I would like to see Shreveport and bossier buy the boardwalk and close the two malls in each town and revitalize the boardwalk. have only one Dillard's and have it at the boardwalk. get other stores like pottery barn, anthropolgie, etc to move in.

Bossier City will likely own it within a year. With the East Bank area serving as the 'party' district, I'd like to see it repurposed into housing and hotels.

Working in downtown Shreveport, I'd often cross the bridge to get a sonic burger and onion rings then look around at BPS on my lunch break.

They closed that sonic a loooong time ago.
