Go figure....it was written by someone that works at a radio station

Chris Reed
I‘ve been in radio for over a decade now. I started out doing nights, then eventually moved to mornings.
When I’m not on-air I enjoy playing basketball, tennis, golf, and working out at the gym. I also love to add to my music library, addicted to finding the next "big song." I also DJ in nightclubs across Acadiana.
My proudest moment in my career came in the summer of 2013 when I was able to help get a family an air conditioner for their home. When I told their story on-air, two Lafayette businessmen came to their aid.
My motivation is to be the best I can be and to make at least one person smile listening to my show. I’m blessed to have never “worked” one day in my career. If you love what you do, it’s not "work."

Exactly. This coach ran up this score for his own ego. I’ve coached t ball as many here have. One of the first things you learn is you only have the kids attention for so long and then all they want to do is go get a snack and watch cartoons. And the hotter it is out there, the shorter span of time their interest in the game will last. I’ll bet that long before the game was over, every single person there on both sides were miserable and just wanted this thing to end, everyone except the a-hole coach.

I'm pretty sure this was how it worked when I played T-ball. No score was officially kept, but we were definitely counting the runs ourselves.
In the higher leagues, there was always a slaughter rule and a time limit, so we didn't hold up the field for the other games. This league should implement rule changes to that effect, but I have no issue with the team running up the score given the established league rules (or lack thereof).

Not having a scoring limit per inning with kids this young is stupid. Even at that age most can hit the ball off a tee but fielding and getting outs is a rare occurrence. My 5 year old just started coaches pitch. They are limited to 7 runs an inning if 3 outs aren't recorded and they play 3 innings.

Our t-ball league doesn't keep score, mainly because it's hard to actually get an out in t-ball.
Now our coach pitch leagues, there is a 5 run limit per inning, and a 10 run rule after 3 innings. The 5th inning is an "open inning" but with an 1 hr time limit, it's pretty rare to get to the 5th inning.
But in coach pitch, you are going to have some strikeouts, and some poorly hit balls. But there are absolutely a lot of games that end in a 15-15 tie after 3 innings when the time limit runs out.

When I play T-ball, you batted until you got 3 outs scored 10 runs or enough runs to go up by 10.
Fast forward a few years when I "kept score" for T-ball and each team sent 10 batters to the plate with no actual score kept. They just had to run the ball back to the infield and hold it up in the air to call time.

quote:I used to umpire for USSSA when I was in high school, Monday-Thursday was all kid/coach pitch but Fridays were reserved for T-Ball and everything in bold is exactly how it went. Our t-ball umpiring responsibilities were pretty much put the ball on the tee, don't get hit in the nuts, and get everyone out of there after one hour.
five-inning game
Seems like a lot for T-ball.
I think in T-ball we just let everyone in the lineup bat once each inning and then the half inning was over (unless the other team was able to record 3 legitimate outs first - which was rare).
It was also just an hour roughly. Usually this ended up being about three innings. Everyone batted 3 times. Score was always pretty close (if anyone even knew it) although 5 years really don't give a shite and if their parents do then they need a reality check.
T-ball is not real baseball and shouldn't be treated as such.
Even keeping score in T-ball is pretty asinine IMO

Want to know why they keep score in T-ball and have tournaments?
It makes money. Lots of it and way more than any age group.

Motherfrickers keep track of score in t-ball?

I wasn’t aware anyone kept score in T-Ball. When I played both teams got like three rounds of batting. Most kids are out there picking grass and their nose. Actually keeping score is pointless

It's payback for when I was on the 1994 Dixie Youth Vernon Parish Allstar team. We beat West Monroe 36-2 and 27-0 in a best of 3 series.
We thought we were the shite until we traveled to West Lake the following weekend and got beat.

When I played t-ball there wasn't even a fence in the outfield. If you were halfway decent, you knew not to actually trust anyone to catch your throw. If you wanted to get an out on a groundball, you basically just had to hold the ball and wait to tag the runner who would inevitably continue around the bases.

Not that I'd advocate it, but gambling on T-ball games would be entertaining as hell

I downvoted because you used "points".

Taking the under would require some balls.

Can’t imagine a worse way to spend 3 hours than watching a 5 inning 80 run tee ball game. My kid played tee ball this year and the games were limited to 1 hour, 2 or 3 innings max, and every kid got to bat once per inning.
