Parents are questioning why a 6-year-old T-Ball team scored 62 runs in a recent game.
The Ville Platte T-Ball team recently defeated the Vernon National team 62-22 in a five-inning game and some parents have suggested on social media that the coach for Ville Platte should have just taken the outs to stop the onslaught.
The team was able to score so many points because in the fifth inning of the game there is no scoring cap. Meaning that there isn't a "mercy rule."
But should the coach have surrendered the outs? Some say yes. Other parents noted that during the game the kids were exposed to temperatures with indices well over 100-degrees.
I should note here that while some parents questioned running up the score here, others have stated on social media that it is part of the game and that the Vernon National team should have gotten the third out to end Ville Platte's at-bat. Thus, some support the coach for allowing the game to go on.
Another point worth making here is this, should there be a rule change? If there was a rule on the books that limited the number of runs in an inning, this would not have happened.
Just recently we discussed the same issue with the U.S Women's Soccer team. Remember when they defeated a team by 13 points in the World Cup? Some said that was a bit excessive.
I ask, what do you think about a T-Ball team scoring 62 runs in a game? And what did the kids get out of this?

Brayden, Braxton, & Jaxden have to learn how to utterly destroy their opponents at an early age.

Yes. But if it’s the top of the inning, they will still finish that inning.

Wtf kind of retard t ball is this? 6 run limit and end the game in 50 mins. Why would you want to subject yourself to hours of t ball?

Disclaimer: I have a current t baller and have two older ones who have been through it too.

We beat a team 44-4 when I was in coach pitch. And that was with the 1 trip around the lineup per inning rule. If I remember right they only got 1 or 2 outs the 5 innings we played.

This is like backlash against everyone-gets-a-trophy culture gone too far.

It's 6 year olds. Just help them run the right way down the bases. Let everyone bat a few times and don't keep score. They don't know what's going on. They're not going to turn out gay

My 7&8 year old coach pitch team beat our "rivals" by a score of 82-21 back in the 70's. We got a mention on WWL that night. It was AWESOME!

Pretty ridiculous.

five-inning game

Seems like a lot for T-ball.

I think in T-ball we just let everyone in the lineup bat once each inning and then the half inning was over (unless the other team was able to record 3 legitimate outs first - which was rare).

It was also just an hour roughly. Usually this ended up being about three innings. Everyone batted 3 times. Score was always pretty close (if anyone even knew it) although 5 years really don't give a shite and if their parents do then they need a reality check.

T-ball is not real baseball and shouldn't be treated as such.

Kind of a jerk move on the coach’s part to keep everyone out there in that kind of heat for no good reason than to feed his ego.

And what sort of t-ball league doesn’t have a max number of batters per inning rule?
