I agree social media in the sense that people (females mostly) Reach out to Facebook and social media for vindication of their actions and or miss guided advice on how to handle situations.
This of course instead of communicating and working through a problem with their partner.

It's not the root cause. The same bored soccer moms that rekindle an old relationship on Facebook would have hooked up with somebody at work or something if social media wasn't around.
