the whole thing is an act, we forget he is an actor by trade

You're sort of right. Here is an interview he did with Howie Mandel that was posted a month ago on YT:
He addresses some of the things we've talked about in this thread (the funny clips, the microphone to the face, the Howard Stern performance, the "#1 song," etc.). He is 100% serious with his music, and he's "been touring for 20 years" and has done thousands of shows.
But all in all, this is a fairly reasonable stance from Feldman in light of all the funny clips there are of him out there. It's all still pretty hilarious, but he at least seems to have some sort of grasp on it in terms of how people see him.

I just started a Pandora subscription and they keep running an ad for the "Losers' Tour" (fitting). The headliners are groups I've never heard of, but at the end of the list there's a very non-descript "...and Corey Feldman" added on the end.
