What exactly is Church of the Highlands?

I have heard a couple of people talk about it recently. A lady at work has been talking about it constantly but she made it sound like it was a college?
I have looked at its website and it looks like you pay for classes. I grew up baptist attending a smaller church so I am ignorant to this.

Church of the Highlands is the church, but it has a Biblical education/ministry college known as Highlands College.

So do you go to this college to become a preacher?

I don’t think it’s specifically for just becoming a preacher like a seminary school. I think it is more of a broad ministerial/church leadership training program.
I don’t know the real specifics of it, though.

If it makes a difference, the pastor is a huge LSU fan.

Correct, they are quickly becoming one of the biggest “mega-churches” in the country. How it works is each satellite campus does “praise and worship” (singing) on its own to start the service. Then, each campus joins the main campus via simulcast live stream to hear the Pastor’s sermon. Each campus, I believe, has its own associate pastor who will lead a prayer at his campus at the beginning and end of the service.
Cool thing, they also broadcast their service in several prisons across Alabama.
I’ve been numerous times and I like it. It’s probably a little bigger than I like, though.

It's a chain of big megachurches.

And they have a lot of smoking hot women and some fire arse coffee.
It's like a concert with a little bit of sermon sprinkled in.
Not your traditional service.

Well, with the highlander, there can be only one!

It’s also a church that has invested time, energy, and money into restoring the community of Woodlawn and all the prisons across Alabama.
Personally, I like a smaller church where you know the pastor and the leaders by first names.
But there has been nothing about their growth or their infrastructure that makes me question their motives. They just have a lot of talented people and genuinely seem to be motivated by the right reasons. One of my best friends goes there and he swears he has never been asked for money or a financial commitment. He still tithes to his small hometown church that has like 150 members. (His parents still attend this small community church and he loves to support it).
Take it for what it’s worth.

You are neither funny nor clever.
He sees what you're doing.

There’s nothing cult like about it outside of just being big.

Joel Olsteen's church out of Houston is #1. Andy Stanley's North Point Ministries in Atlanta is also in the top 5.
