A friend of mine invented some niche technology in 2000 that is common place today. He recently sold his stake for $300 million and it was widely reported.
Outside of this, my wife and I are good friends with a couple who are both in medical sales. They live in a home that’s for sale for $2 million. In Mississippi

Friend went to Stanford and then Harvard MBA. All on scholarships/financial aid - no loans. Dad is a police officer and mom never worked... so no family money.
Currently works as an investment banker. Works a LOT of hours but makes around 325K a year base with bonuses between 300-500K a year.

that's the kicker, always let someone else take the depreciation hit, they drop in value like a safe until they reach a certain point and never seem to continue to depreciate below that point

CEO of a 150m dollar company. I couldn’t think of a better guy to be in his position. He is generous, charitable, and a true sweetheart. I’m proud to call him my friend.

Own an oil field contract company for dispatchers.
I accidentally seen his bank account receipt one time, that month he took home 36,000 dollars. He also works from home 80% of the time. I've seen him give hundreds of dollars to street people before.

Makes the most? Guy I graduated with. Land development and investments.
Has the most? Probably me by a fair amount, but he makes 10x what I do now. So he'll probably pass me in the next two years or so.
Then again, they all outspend me 10:1. I live poor and easy. I buy used vehicles. I have no mortgage.
Perspective I suppose.

These average numbers are extremely misleading. They also take into account the docs working in the popular cities (New York, San Diego, etc) who make literally 1/2 to 1/3 of what docs working in "unpopular places" work. Specialists that are private partners in larger cities in the South can make loads more than those average numbers. I know of an Ortho group in MS whose starting partners just out of training start at higher than the average listed above

Not connected to family businesses/money?
My friends in Biglaw are making around 350k. We're in our early 30's though. Our other friends that are doctors are salty that they still aren't making shite, but their day will come.

Friends own an nfl team. Their worth is over $3B.
Not sure what they make a year, but it’s a lot.
They live large.
