Let me guess. $600 is probably a decent chunk out of your yearly household budget. Thanks, you are confirming my theory from the other tipping thread.

You have a budget? Yikes. I know a few other poors that don’t make enough money so they have to budget out their expenses. My condolences.

Well I mean it was a year ago so I can’t do anything but laugh at myself for being dumb now.

I’m at an all inclusive resort now as I post this. I’ve seen not one person tip. The staff is excellent, service has been great without it.

My advice, go to a good resort and pay the money up front and you won’t have to tip to get good service.

It depends on the property.

I would hardly call an Omni property a bad resort and they take tips. In fact sandals, what most on here call trashy, will fire employees that take tips.

We only do AI's when we travel in groups. Most times we find a cool waiter/waitress, show them we are the money, and reward them for their speedy delivery of drinks without us having to ask. When the resort bar ran out of our favorite beer, one guy ran across to another company run resort to grab additional cases for us. It was an impressive level of service not seen in the states to which the waiter was paid appropriately.

Why is tipping so fricking hard for you people. It's a tip, you're not going to make or break the way they live. Tip whatever you feel comfortable giving them.

I wouldn't be paying attention to the prices of anything because it is ALL INCLUSIVE! So, in my mind, the meal and/or drink was 'free.' So 20% of nothing is, wait let me get my calculator, oh, NOTHING!

However, if one of the employees is going above and beyond to make my stay as pleasant as possible, I would tip them every now and again.

Never even considered going to an all inclusive resort. Never will.

Get $100 in ones before you go and tip a dollar or two for each round of drinks. It doesn't take much to distinguish yourself from the other mouth breathers.

This is the correct answer and what we typically do. I tip because I'm not an a-hole, and while I am not rich, $100 really doesn't mean that much to me. A couple of bucks means more to the severely underpaid staff than it will ever matter to me and it means I'm going to get better service than the other assholes who aren't tipping.

My wife, then girlfriend, and I went to Cancun for a week when we graduated college. The first night we were there, I wanted to tip the bartender really well so that he would take good care of me the rest of the time we were there. I don't remember what I gave him but he called me Señor Mr Mom the entire rest of the trip and I never had to ask for a drink.

There are not prices on the menu. At least not at all the all inclusives I've been to

I know, financial planning is so lame and only poors do it!

I stay at resorts that don’t allow tipping. Carrying cash to a swim up bar is dumb.

We did the same thing and I would recommend it to anybody. Then, I went back and tipped my favorites again at the end of the week.
