Dude. Starting at the COVID years, then switching jobs into an entire new industry, then my house getting destroyed, then going through a bloody merger, then switching jobs again, and now getting ready to move my family back home away from all their friends...
The last few years have been stressful as frick. I haven't been "unhappy", but its been pretty damn hard. I hope after this move things settle down.

As a woman, I think 40s are SO much better than 20s-30s. You're more comfortable in your skin and worry less about what others think. Daughters are older and fairly self sufficient and hubs and I are having a great time. Hormone replacement therapy may have a lot to do with this, lol...

God bless, brether. We'll make it.

Mid 40s kinda sucks due to the never ending grind and kids activities. But it’s what I signed up for with 3 kids. At the end of the day I have it better than 99% of people on earth.

I was going to answer that it's 7 years after you get married; 5 if you have kids immediately. Everyone gets comfortable, resentment and bills pile up, lack of sleep because of young kids, etc.

How can you have .2 when there are 12 months?
Posted on 3/12/26 at 2:05 pm to dyslexiateechur
Idk probably like 47.2 or something

I would say 24 or 25 was my worst year or two. I'm almost 40 now and in the best shape I've ever been both in health and in wealth.

I have had more fun in my 50s than any other time of my life except college. And it’s just getting started. Being free from responsibilities and financially secure is the best peace of mind there is

I am 47.7 and am miserable.

Well by then, ill have one kid who is 19 and the other is 17. So yea I could see how that would be the case.

47.2.
I'm right there. I know that I have blamed a lot of stuff, especially work, on COVID. But maybe it was just my age corresponding more.

The worst years of my life were when I was at LSU….working day and night to get school work done and have enough money to eat on. Always flat broke.
I just turned 60 and retired recently…these are definitely my best years!

47.2 is usually the peak midlife crisis age. Men are sensing their mortality. They drink heavily, chase skirts, change their hair and clothes, start manscaping (much to the bemusement of their wives), and realize that most of that is futile because they have a dad bod.
Then they buy a house in a flood zone

I’m 44 and get it. Sick of the M-F grind, but realize you still have plenty of years left to do it. Making good money, but it takes every bit of it to live these days.
Kids growing up. You start to notice the first signs of your body aging..eyesight, more sore..mid 40’s aren’t a ton of fun.

Absolutely love my 40s, have money finally and dont have much stress. Closing in on retirement by around 48, good times. 20s were always stressful with no money.
