We use a Christmas themed butt plug. Painted like the shortest, fattest candy cane you have ever seen. Kids haven't noticed yet, but the Elf on the Shelf hasn't come into contact with it yet.

If it becomes an issue with family, I have a MAGA hat ready to come in as second string. It's already Christmas colored, just have to pin on some mistletoe and you have yourself a fine looking tree too.

We have 2 trees. One for decoration and one for use to go sick with old ornaments that have been passed down.

Best of both worlds. Everyone is happy.
