re: What do you do in shooter situation when you have a gun?

Too many unknowns. You could be shooting a guy trying to take down the shooter who is doing the same thing you're doing. You could miss and take someone else out. You could get shot by the police trying to save lives. If you're in the wrong city you'd probably catch a murder trial.
I've never been close to this kind of situation but I imagine it's confusing as shite and impossible to figure out in the moment.

Its not the solution. But people claiming taking away guns to prevent these situations are a joke. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if some of these shooters are being paid or having their families paid by Soros to push the general public to cave to draconian gun control measures

I'm not talking about being in the bank when the perp pulls his handgun.
I'm talking about being in the parking lot while something is going on in the Mall/Bank/Building....etc.
Do you pull your gun and go after the shooter>?
No, I try would attempt to leave the scene if possible. Going after a shooter is not my job. I don't want the cop taking me out too.
Are you concerned that the police will think you are the bad guy with the gun and shoot you????
If I had to pull the gun (for self defense only), and a cop showed up, I would disarm myself and get to the ground with my hands outstretched.

Obviously it's a judgement call. Family with you? I'm getting out in 99.99% of situations.
In something like this, I'm probably getting out regardless unless it's happening right in front of me. I'm not charging into a situation I know nothing about - I know my limitations.
Now if you're somehow the first armed person around during a shooting at a school or church or the like? I think what's rational begins to move a bit.

If it’s a school or my loved ones are inside, yeah, go in.
If I’m not inside and I don’t know what’s going on, I don’t need to get in the way unless it’s to try to help people. Don’t rush in like Tackleberry but be ready to help people get out and possibly shoot if you see the shooter.

I carry a weapon to get me and mine out of dangers way. Not go towards it.

This thread is interesting. I thought good guys with guns are supposed to be the solution to these situations?
Do you misunderstand the phrase “self defense”?
It doesn’t mean there’s an obligation to hunt down killers. Is that what what you were thinking?

You are not LEO. No good will come of you playing hero.

Correct.

With these idiot cops these days they see you with a gun they'll just shoot you without even stopping to think
So you're saying a cop called to an active shooter situation should not shoot at a guy with a gun at the scene? If you are firing a weapon at the site where an active shooter is reported, you should expect to be mistaken for the bad guy because you are in fact an active shooter, even if you are not the bad guy.
This ain't rocket science.

In all honesty, I don’t know what I’d do - if it was in my face like a carjacking - I’d blow that motherfricker away - but if I’m witnessing it and they’re not shooting at me - unless I have a clear, safe shot and plenty of witnesses to say I’m not the bad guy - I’m getting the hell out, especially if I have my gazillion kids with me

It didn't work out well for this guy despite his good intentions.
If I feel I can help/save someone and I know enough of the situation to make that call I'll probably shoot. Can't speak in definitive terms in those situations.
Alot of times you have to be lucky in the first place.

Personally, I would probably lock myself and others into a room and point the gun at said door.

I always have CCW on me and always have a scoped mini-14 in the truck with 3 mags,,,,,I’ll fight

Depends…. Like the dash am video from today, if I’m that close and my family isn’t in danger… I’m prolly going to make a dumb decision and run his arse over. If I’m in a place where I have zero evasive options, absolutely. If my family is with me and I have options, I’m protecting me and mine.

From what I have seen, wait until the coast is clear then find social media or media outlet and tell them what you would have done.

Guess again. A Soros DA would cream his pants to charge a good guy with a gun.

Depends. Is the cop at an elementary school in Texas?

Easy to talk a big game, harder to do it.

To answer the OP, I’ve got a family to go home to. I’m not a trained law enforcement officer. I GTFO
