This is about the only thing that seems appealing about it - once the initial “novelty” try it out experience. But $3500 is absurd. I maybe spend 24-36 hours a year actually in the air. Day to day, who honestly needs more screen time and that immersive. Hard pass.

He would have fired people that would have brought him the idea for this. The decline of Apple under Cook officially began yesterday.

Would you like to go skiing or scuba diving?

MS did this over a decade ago with its first Hololens. Their 2nd Gen didn't make enough improvements and they never brought the costs down to the consumer level (prices were around the estimate for the Vision Pro).
It looks like Apple has done a better job with design for their AR/VR device, but until that price comes down to the Quest range ($400-$500), it's likely to suffer the same fate as the Hololens. I know the Apple fanatics are generally willing to spend insane amounts on Apple products, but I think $3,000-$3,500 is simply too much for most to spend on something like this.

I'm interested in reality.
Not "Virtual" reality.
Not "Augmented" reality.

It at least needs to come down to Vive/Index pricing. It's way too niche at that current price.

I watched the trailer and either it’s doesn’t have a real use that seems appealing or they didn’t do a great job selling it.
They try to sell you on still being able to see things around you while you’re in them, but is that really that different from just having my phone in my hand?
Watching the movie on the plane looked pretty cool.
Then they had you FaceTiming with somebody in it. What is the person on the other side seeing? Just a close up of my eyes? Me looking dumb in ski goggles?
So basically unless I’m missing something, they want me to pay $3900 for movie watching goggles.
I just went to the Apple Store to get a new phone yesterday though and the employee I talked to was fan boying over it

Having goggles wrapped around your face while using the computer through the goggles seems to immersive to me. I want the ability to put the computer down and pick it up with ease. The goggles may have some applications but for everyday use, I just don't see it. For example the goggles might be good for combat use in terms of real time mapping, night vision, troop communications, etc.

The tech lover in me would love to try it, but...I just don't see the practical use for it to justify the price point. It runs apps that we already have on our phones, just virtually.
But honestly if I had frick you money sure I'd give it a go.

Looks amazing for travel, but this isn't a viable mass market product until they can get the price around or under 1K

On the All In pod they said it's being pushed by Tim Cook for release earlier than the designers/engineers think is proper

So it’s goggles for $3,500 just to have my apps and web browser in full screen.
This has no purpose

They need to get it out well in advance to give devs the chance to build on it. I don't blame them for that. If anything this is almost like a beta with the hardcore apple nerds as paid testers.
The engineering and supply chain challenge is scaling this to the mass market.

Technology wise it’s great. Still it will be a flop.

Brownlee's review sheds light on everything most of us would ask. Makes it seem very interesting, but cannot make it appear as anything more than a novelty item for now.

Alcohol and noise canceling headphones are much cheaper.

Energy companies and hospitals beg to differ.
