Go to a contractor and tell them you can get them nested work in whatever plant you worked at. They will make you a "PM" when in actuality they'll just pair you with their top up-and-coming controls guy. He will do all your work for you while the company uses you for your relationships in the plant. Learn the actual job before they realize they don't need you anymore or before they realize you lied about how much work you can bring in

I got out of the plant 13 years ago, got into the natural gas pipeline industry.
Working 4-10’s now, company truck, 6 weeks vacation.
Without a doubt, the best career move I made.

Industrial sales might be the answer you are looking for. I know several operators that made the transition, and have done well. Think instrumentation, pumps, motors, and tools.

Do you want to get out of plants period? I know a lot of power plants look for instrument techs. Seems like a good gig. Dedicated office, 9-5 schedule, usually make north of 100k.
Didn't see this. If you're single, I would just stay at it for a few more years and stack up half of your pay. Maybe start a business or get an easy job in the public sector after you've maxed out all of your retirement accounts and have a fat emergency fund.

Go to trade school for plumbing or electrician. Get your apprenticeship, work for somebody else for a few years, and then start your own business and the sky’s the limit.
Since there’s so few plumbers, it’s not uncommon for plumbers to charge over $500 an hour for a service.

You're making a really good salary.
I was going to mention instrumentation or corrosion tech. Those skills are always in high demand but they are not making 150K.

What qualifications/education do you have? College degree? Management experience? $150K is a lot of money

This is actually pretty solid advice.

Any past plant baws out there that moved out of shift work and was able to make somewhat similar pay in a different career path? Plant baw here making 150k but looking at other options to get out this shift work. What industry can I swap to with better work/life balance with similar pay?
Isn't that the issue with the work? You aren't going to be able to get a job with similar pay to what you make, so you end up staying there your whole life (well until you retire).
