Atlanta has plenty of problems and I don't blame anyone for not really liking it. Objectively it has a lot to do, has decent enough places to live, has a higher high end than most of the region and is aesthetically and topographically nicer than a lot of major cities. Objectively, it's also a city with serious crime issues, a lot of rotten inner core, bad governance, and unfortunately it is very attractive to a very rough crowd. The pros and cons are pretty consistent with most other major cities in the South (and many beyond the South).

But most of the criticisms from places like this - by southerners - lack credibility. Very few Atlantans will take seriously criticisms coming from people in Birmingham, Mobile, New Orleans, Jackson, Baton Rogue, etc.

Just how it is.

Yeah it's wild how a bunch of people from Baton Rouge and NOLA refer to Atlanta as a "shithole."

They know a shithole when they see one so I don't really see the problem.

Nah. Atlanta is great. Lived here the past 15 years and grew up in NOLA. We live in Cobb. Great schools, low cost of living, easy access to lakes, mountains, golf courses, restaurants, breweries. Good night life in the burbs with the square, downtown woodstock, and downtown roswell.

Braves are 15 minute drive. Weather is awesome about 7 months out of the year. I go ITP about 4 to 5 times a year shows at the Fox. Never have a problem when in the city.

You mean the Braves fanbase that has been #2 in total attendance the last 2 years. That fanbase?

The city that won 2 titles in 59 days. That fanbase?

I lived in West Georgia for 5 years and commuted to Atlanta daily. We were all told by management that traffic was never a good excuse to be late.

Do you realize that the mayor of Atlanta is in charge of a city of about 500k people, in a metro area that is approaching 7 million?

It's not in Louisiana for starters. Museums, concerts, tons of things to do.
