Sure. But you can still get 2lbs of raw salmon at rouses for under $15 which is plenty for 2 adults and 2 kids

About $150-200 a week for a family of 4.

I plan out cooking 3 meals a week. usually buy/cook something like this:

Meal 1 (crockpot):
Chuck roast
Cauliflower/broccoli
Carrots/potatoes

Or

Red or white beans
Sausage/ham
Rice

Meal 2 (oven):
Salmon
Spinach
Trinity

Or

Pork tenderloin
Squash/Zucchini

Meal 3 (pit or smoker):
Burgers
Sausage
Buns
BBQ or green beans

Or

Pork butt or chicken

Breakfast:
Dozen eggs
Bacon/sausage
Biscuits

Leftovers/fill in:
Tortillas/bread
Deli meat
Cheese

Stovetop substitutions replacing one of the above:

Tacos
Spaghetti and meat sauce
Jambalaya

Solid week of food for a family of 4. Easily had for under $200 a week.

Occasionally splurge on brisket or steak. We don’t eat out much except occasional Saturday morning breakfast at a local cheap diner or lunch at a burger place. So probably add another 100 per month there.

I have no idea. GF buys the groceries since she doesnt pay for anything else. If it were just me though it would be maybe 200 bucks or something maybe less. Everytime I go see my parents they insist I take food. I started bringing a cooler. Whenever there is a good deal my dad will buy whole loins, and have them sliced. They have 3 freezers. Need to bag a couple of deer this year. That's the plan for Thanksgiving. I'ma take a doe opening weekend. There is one hanging around that appears it didn't have a fawn. She needs to be dinner.

About $300 per week, that includes household items you would buy at a place like Walmart.

We have 2 kids that are teenagers. I would say in the past year it’s a 50% increase. We have dealt with it by eating out less.

The problem I’m seeing is it doesn’t seem to be leveling off. Prices are steadily increasing.

I've found a lot of the stuff I buy has gone down slightly and leveled off. Mainly beef. Ground beef has gone from $5/lb to $3.5-4/lb, skirt steak has done from $11/lb to $9/lb, all at Sam's and/or Costco

Family of 4. When I include diapers for the little one and things like laundry detergent and TP and paper towels, my budget is at $400 a week. Damn diapers are $40-50 a box.

I feel like someone is trying to get people’s info/passwords on the OT lately.

Recent topics:

First car.
What high school you went to.
How old are you.
Kid’s schools.
Career.
Taxes.
How much do you spend in groceries?.. seriously?

The anonymity is what makes this place fun. Quit asking me questions.

Look, I agree that prices are up, but $40 a meal at home? Get the frick out of here. If you spend more than $20 a meal, on average, you’re a retard. We eat steak 1 night a week, and typically a shrimp dish. Still don’t spend more than $20 on average.

5 total, including 3 teenagers.

Wife can stretch a dollar, but we're still around $1K/month at Walmart/Target, plus $400/month takeout.

That's with seasonal gardens and plenty of chicken eggs.

My barometer for our overall COL is the monthly credit card bill. Basically all our expenses/utilities/fuel/food go there before being paid in full monthly. That statement has gone from under $3K/month in 2019 to over $4K/month in 2022.

No car note. No house note. $4K left in student loan debt which may or may not have been cancelled by Brandon last week. Even with that, we are living way closer to the edge than I would prefer.

In all honestly, I've lived way closer to the edge in the past, but something about this economy and being older has me way more pessimistic this time around.
