Tree-fiddy per week.

quote:$150 a day, that's gotta be mostly eating out.
So far this year between eating out and groceries we have averaged $4k a month. 4 people in the household.

What the frick are you buying at the store?
If I still had my receipts, I’d post them. Might return to this thread on Sunday, but here’s a list off the top of my head:
Costco
Chicken - $34
Salmon - $29
Avocado - $6
Apples - $10
Bell peppers - $7
Grapes - $4 (on sale this week!)
Watermelon - $7
Spring salad mix - $5
Cherry tomatoes - $4
Frozen broccoli - $6
Granola - $8
Feta - $6
Cheddar cheese - $6
Yogurt - $8
Stacy’s pita chips - $7
Tortilla chips - $3
There’s almost always some bulk item or two we need to replace that lasts a few weeks. Maple syrup, toilet paper, olive oil, walnuts, coffee, etc…I’d estimate $25/week. If not more.
So for Costco, that’s ~$195 with tax.
Walmart
Bread - $4
Milk - $7
Eggs - $4
Bananas - $4
Cilantro - $2
Onions - $2-3
Green onions - $1
Pasta - $5
Cheerios - $5
Black beans - $5
Tortillas - $3
Sour cream - $3
Chicken stock - $4
Deli meat - $8
Some kind of treat for the kids - $4
That’s about $75 with tax.
And that’s around what we spend per week on Sunday. Usually about $250-$275 between the two stores. Throw in a random pickup for something during the week, you’re at $300/week.
We eat well, but we’re certainly not living it up with gourmet steaks and fancy wines.

You, your wife, and two kids put down 10+lbs of meat a week plus all that other shite?

Pretty much.
We rarely throw anything away. Some of the items carry over to the next week but we might buy a different protein or something the next week.
I know you’re ready to pounce on BMIs, so I can list our heights and weights if you want.
Oh and it’s not 10lbs of protein. We buy organic chicken and the antibiotic free salmon.
(Note: never did I mention in the thread that we’re struggling to find ways to save. Thread was made out of curiosity of others’ expenses)

Probably another $250/month eating out.
You must be drinking tap water because no quality wine is less than $250.

It’s true. I only order water when going out to eat.
And…prepare yourself….I order it with no ice.
