My wife does. She's an avid reader and probably goes through a book every couple weeks.

Went to the library yesterday after work and my wife is taking daughter to "storm telling" after she picks her up from daycare.

ETA: this thread is not going as the OP planned.

Ours has free wifi 24/7, and it works just outside where there are covered tables. I always see people out there on laptops. I assume it's a great resource for job seekers.

I go fairly often. Why buy a book when I can read it for free?

My mom goes all the time. She reads these romance novels. I’m sure the old man likes it because she is not filling their house with a shite load of books.

We go to the library all the time. Public libraries have some great activities for kids.

We also use the library for audio books.

You can also check out DVDs for free. We use it to find some of the old classics that you can't find on streaming services.

OP is quite ignorant.

Yes. Many people actually, but most of my friends are professionals. My mom reads almost every night and I expect she's in the library once a week minimum.

We take for granted that everyone has a computer and internet service. Often times I see people at the library using the computer to email friends and family.

They have cool classes and activities for the kids. They provide a quiet place to work or study away from your home. They usually have meeting rooms available if you have a group or business meeting. They have books that you can browse and sample before you check them out. There are a lot of reasons to have a library.

I use the Chattanooga one occassionally. Before I got my 3d printer, they had one you could use there.

We take my daughter to the one near our house. She loves it.

I use the overdrive app to checkout ebooks from our library.

I get where he's coming from if he recently looked at property taxes, even if I disagree with him.

Alot of people fuss about BREC and Library taxes in EBR, particularly when a park or library goes up in a questionable area or for a questionable purpose.

But yea, he's a tard for thinking people don't use public libraries. One of the most important services they offer is helping poor folks access employment websites.
They will even assist functioning mentally disabled people apply for jobs as well as help with filing taxes(Libraries have long been a source for paper income tax forms).
I have personal experience with this in my family.

It's not just books and internet access.

EBR uses this app too. I wish they'd overhaul OverDrive.

It's painfully kludgy and slow and lacks a TON of titles. But in the end you have an eBook on your device for 21 days just like you'd check out a physical book.

This country’s average vocabulary is indicative of the value we place upon reading in general, and this from a people who have the answers to their problems a mere keystroke away in their hands, and still we sound more and more unintelligent as time goes on. If libraries become extinct, it will only be fitting that they do, in keeping with our addiction to constantly being entertained, and extreme reluctance to read and become edified as a result.

What’s truly funny, is how our society fashions itself as somehow superior to the intellectual midgets of the past, and yet if we compare even the above average American today to our founding fathers for example, it becomes painfully obvious that our vocabulary is that of a third grader compared to theirs. That’s because they were, by most accounts, voracious readers, and put their language skills acquired through their readings into their own extensive writings, and that of course explains their penmanship as well, which tends to make ours look like cave art in comparison.

TLDR?

Cliff Notes: We’re not as smart as we like to fashion ourselves as being.

Need more proof? See the thread entitled “Kendrick Lamar has won the Pulitzer Prize for music for DAMN”

That’s the road we’re on.

If BR is ever going to be a nice cityx we need a few good libraries.

Replace these run down schools too.

Broadmoor Middle on Sharp is a shame.
