When was the last time you've been to one? In today's age, I feel as if public libraries have become unnecessary because of the technology that the average person has available to them. So why not get rid of them and save some money?

Just because you don't use them. doesn't mean other people don't.

"I don't go to libraries, and I can't think of a reason other people would either. So get rid of them."

Brilliant idea hillbilly.

So people can read and hopefully refine their grammar skills, including concepts like subject-verb agreement.

I go to the main EBR library around once a week. Pretty much every book I read comes from there. They have a great DVD selection as well.

Maybe we can live without libraries, people like you and me. Maybe. Sure, we're too old to change the world, but what about that kid, sitting down, opening a book, right now, in a branch at the local library and finding drawings of pee-pees and wee-wees on the Cat in the Hat and the Five Chinese Brothers? Doesn't HE deserve better? Look. If you think this is about overdue fines and missing books, you'd better think again.

What money would it save? Operating expenses would probably come out to like $1 per household in the bigger towns/cities. Do you really need $1 extra dollar per year? Libraries provide great knowledge outlet for those who cannot afford to purchase on their own. Libraries put on many events to try to keep kids learning (interested in learning).

Most parents don’t even read to their kids anymore. If anything, we need more books and literacy, not less. GFY.

I vote there. The local one has story time and puppet shows for little kids. A lot of people use the internet there. And yes, some people still like to read books.

I get ebooks through my library. And from time to time, I will go by there. It's also a good place for some who don't have computer access to surf the web.
Yes, you could say it's for poors, but it is money well spent, IMO.

My l9cal branch is badass.

They have all the dvds, and obviously books, you could want for free to rent.

They have a hge kids section, storytime twice a week, plus many other activities for the kids.

When i moved here and didnt have internet hooked up yet, free that.

Niceest public bathrooms anywhere to boot

Plus, hotties walking around over 17 years old.

The libraries here in the Texas suburbs are always a packed. Mostly stay at home moms bringing their kids during the day or high school kids in evenings.
