I'm not either. Luckily I don't have to do that here.

eta- to clarify, I no longer live in CA but I live in Seattle which gets most of the same hate and criticisms as CA

Sorry not everyone is enamored with the idea of making very good money while living in a shitty apartment and living in a more expensive Giant Baton Rouge with even worse traffic.

Why is this so hard for you to understand?

I would move to Idaho or Montana if I were you. You could even move to Boise or Helena if you need a semblance of civilization.

I was there last summer and my god it was heaven on Earth. Now I know why my aunt and uncle take their camper and go there every few weeks in the spring and summer months.

It's a possible seasonal retirement spot for me.

So you're basically just discussing LA here? I wouldn't live there either but there is a shite ton of variety in the lifestyles you can live in CA besides just what LA has to offer.

Yeah, I could easily live out there but right now the retirement plan is Mt Lassen, CA.

I'm talking about California metro. Like LA, SF, Oakland, Burbank San Jose, and whatnot. They have the same problems that Baton Rouge and New Orleans have.

That may be true but the fact of the matter is that the coast still controls sacramento which controls a lot of factors that go into a cost of living in California.

Not if you look at per capita. And if you haven’t noticed, the homeless tend to live near big cities which California has a lot of.

People here hate California because it’s one the biggest liberal areas in the country and this board is on the right. Some (mostly those politards) legitimately think the US would somehow would be better off without its richest state.

I agree. You shouldn't move there if you can't afford it or it would prevent you building retirement. If you can afford it, and millions can, there are parts of it that are great places to live.

There's no difference between "normal things" and paying the bills.

If it costs money, it's a bill.

When I say bills, I mean bills and all the costs associated with whatever you're doing and yes taking vacations, doing things you like to do is considered a bill to me as well and saving for retirement is a bill to me as well because that's more money out of the paycheck.

This is the kind of stupidity I come to the OT for. Thank you for making me feel much better about myself.

Not gonna get sucked into that because y'all aren't even bothering to deny the mere fact that you can get a bigger and more comfortable house along with a cheaper cost of living in the suburbs of southern cities as opposed to shitty apartments and grungy and pedestrian small houses in California metro.

Not going to get sucked into the fact that you tried to pass a $1.5-2 million home for $500k and got caught? Yeah I wouldn’t want to talk about that either if I were you.

Buying a bigger house in the middle of nowhere Texas might appeal to you, but for people who want to actually live in a place and be surrounded by nightlife, incredible restaurants, beaches, mountains, entertainment, etc. would be much happier in a smaller place in California. That’s the fact you want to ignore.

I’m astounded at how stupid you are.

California has millions of liberals.
That is the one and only issue.
All the rest stems from that.

The liberals have legal weed, oppose war, have Jews who control movie industry and influence the rest of the country.
Californians created wealth with intellectual property.
They attempt to preserve endangered species.
The public university system has several campuses with departments that are better than those of LSU. UC Berkeley has been lib and mocked for it since huey long. The Stanford band mocks the norm.
Geeks make OT baller money.
The hottest girls in the quad go there.

You're the one that's nitpicking an example I posted while ignoring my broader claim that's absolutely true.

Yeah I would keep talking about that If I were you.

Ever think people in general are sick and fricking tired of hearing about California this and California that? I mean if California isn’t blowing their own horn, someone else is. Gets old. Don’t care.

The south has better food and music culture as well. Also better women. Cali has beautiful women but their personalities really really suck

Yes, we envy them living in 1000 sq/ft houses that cost upwards of a million dollars, driving for an hour in traffic to go 10 miles to work, paying a dollar more per gallon of gas as any other state, being taxed at about 70 cents for every dollar you make,

That’s pretty much NOLA/BR living in a nutshell
