Yes, we envy them living in 1000 sq/ft houses that cost upwards of a million dollars, driving for an hour in traffic to go 10 miles to work, paying a dollar more per gallon of gas as any other state, being taxed at about 70 cents for every dollar you make, and having to learn Spanish if want to order food.

I'm so jelly.

Well the place you linked didn’t sell this year, but it went from being sold in 2012 for 190k to being listed for $480k only six years later.

And whoever's living/renting it it is making high six figures when he could easily buy something nicer and bigger in the suburbs of southern cities along with a cheaper cost of living.

You can't argue that one away.

Wow.

We can have fun and generalize and hyperbolize Louisiana in that same manner.

I've always called Los Angeles a giant Baton Rouge withe even worse traffic thanks to all the illegals there.

Sure the weather, beaches, mountains and oceans are pretty nice but they don't help pay the bills and provide a cheaper and more comfortable cost of living.

Newsflash: some people don’t care that shitholes like Louisiana are cheaper. They want to enjoy life.

The person living in the house paid $190k for it...

And like I said, not everyone wants to live in some southern suburb just because it’s cheaper.

If you can't afford to do anything but pay your bills you shouldn't live there. That goes for just about anywhere.

I'm pretty sure that Houston and Atlanta aren't in Louisiana though

Los Angeles is just a giant Baton Rouge, if you don't pay attention to all of this stuff!

So Detroit is the ideal city in this hypothetical?

Good point. They'll give you a house in Detroit.

People including me who do will have more money saved up for retirement thanks to that and enable us to have a shite ton of more fun in our fifties and sixties like traveling the world and maybe even living in season in California.

Like I said earlier, have fun looking at the pretty ocean and mountains and still while being poor and working into your seventies.

Yeah, nobody retires in California and the poverty rate is 100%.
