PMAC dungeon was a court with no seats and 4 walls.
Yep and the walls were really tall and very close to the court. It really did feel like the walls were closing in on you in the dungeon.
Since we are talking about the PMAC there are also catwalks above the ceiling. Not the ones you can see by the press box, but another set higher that is hidden. You can watch games or events from up there by looking down through the holes or removing a tile for a better view.

I was told it was bad luck to take a dump on the Indian burial mounds.

What about that shack that was on the northwest exterior of the stadium. It was along the sidewalk at the bottom of the hill. I don’t even remember what it was, maybe food?
Way back when they sold tickets to the football games there.

Who remembers the little snack bar on the outside, East side of Tiger Stadium? It’s probably been since Fall of 87 since I went in there.
That used to be my snack stop when walking to class. IIRC they still sold cigarettes there in the early 90's.
Also, always hear there was a "head shop" on the second floor of a clothing store on West Chimes. They sold pipes, bongs, etc. You had to know the password to get in. Can't remember the name of the store though.

Day after Katrina hit I went to campus to volunteer and was sent to the PMAC and placed with the charge nurse. I was a graduate student at that time. At an early meeting of all the doctors and nurses several of the doctors were complaining about having to yell across the room for things and wanted a way to improve communication and organization. I raise my hand and point out that we are in a basketball arena with speakers everywhere (I am a bit of a smartass in case no one has noticed
). I get sent to find someone from the athletic department and spend the rest of the day at a table in the middle of the PMAC with a microphone making announcements whenever notes were brought to me.
FEMA wasn't there yet and there was minimal organization going on. At times we wouldn't have enough doctors present and other times we had too many to make use of, so I worked with the nurses to start scheduling shifts for all of the volunteering medical personnel we had arriving.
At one point they ran out of intake forms to put patient information on and, not being able to locate a copier anywhere on the floor or in an area which was unlocked, I went to the Psych Dept and used my key to get in and the department copier to get more forms made. I got scolded for that later by the department for the cost of the paper, but they forgave it given the situation.
Once FEMA got there they put in their own organization and I stepped back to other roles, mostly walking patients to other buildings around campus and assisting the head of EMS for EBR.
eta: Only ever went back in the PMAC once after that, to walk for graduation. Your view of a building changes when you know the room they put the bodies in.

The midnight sing-offs in the empty pool in the gym armory, wait, never mind, that was some stupid chick flick my wife made me watch.

The General Store. Smokey Bourgeois owned it.
Hippie clothes and a head shop all in one. When Ossie Brown shut down the head shops early 80's, Smokey just put a curtain up. You just had to walk in, tell them what you wanted, and they would go behind the curtain and retrieve your order.
At least that's the way the story went...

Huey Long wanted LSU to have the largest pool of any university in the nation. UCLA's was three feet longer, so Huey had them tear out one end and add ten feet to it.
I thought that UGA's Stegeman Hall was the pool which caused the addition to the LSU pool.

You may be correct. I'll have to check the story on it. I'm getting old and senile. I reckon I should soon be qualified to run for president.

Bonus: PMAC practice court dungeon. It blows my mind that it was a practice facility for a major university prior to the complex being built behind the arena. It was about as spartan as you can get.
I read once that early on Shaq and Stanley Roberts had some epic and very physical practice sessions against each other in the dungeon.

Carlotta St party
Was legendary. Last one I went to was around 2002. I remember they used to get a permit but for some reason they weren’t given one that year but the party still happened. About 20 police cars showed up and ran everyone off. I’ve never seen BRPD in mass like that.
There was a reveille article about it and how pathetic it was for that many cop cars to come break up a party. I remember them trying to say they got a call about a riot or a shooting or something. Most people thought it was BS and just their way of covering their asses.

That’s a whole thread in itself. There’s a classic if you can access it. It centered around LSU sports in the 80’s. Dale’s players fighting football players in Broussard Hall…legendary Liberty Bowl trip against Baylor…and wasn’t that when Brodhead’s office was being wiretapped?

Tunnels- In college we went in down there a decent amount on while tailgating, nothing really to report other than you are under ground which was neat. You could pop in next to the bell tower and pop out on the other side of the quad.
One gameday we ran into a random older dude who was walking through the tunnels solo. He had a backpack that was basically two cylinders with straps with a straw, kinda like those drinking hats. One full of Jack Daniels and the other full of Coke. Odd cat, he was just getting hammered and strolling around the tunnels solo.
