No lie, i just remembered my Olympic weight bar is from the Gym Armory Before the Rec center opened we worked out at the gym armory, some Balboa-esque weight room in the bottom area.

Yep. I took a weight lifting class in there in 1991. All those old weight plates and bars were rusty as hell. It was archaic compared to Foxy's

I took a swimming class and we swam in that old pool. I already knew how to swim of course, but needed an activity class that I could excel at. Every Thursday we had to swim 60 laps in that pool (I think it was a mile). What I didn't like was the instructor who seemed to have little regard for the students who took the class and didn't know how to swim at all. He didn't really help them. They stayed in the shallow end of the pool clawing at the water, and the instructor paid them little to no attention. That bothered me.

Who remembers the little snack bar on the outside, East side of Tiger Stadium? It’s probably been since Fall of 87 since I went in there. I seem to remember a ton of football memorabilia on the walls.

I remember this. It was inside on the stair portals with a sign outside.

What about that shack that was on the northwest exterior of the stadium. It was along the sidewalk at the bottom of the hill. I don’t even remember what it was, maybe food?

And no, the stadium dorms were not air conditioned.

Can confirm. Also no elevators, radiators for heat. I lived on the fifth floor of West Stadium.

the Reggie phones in the Union were direct phone lines that let you schedule for classes, and they let you in faster than if you called from home

There was a phone in the library on the first floor near the elevators that was like this. Always had a long line.

I once climbed the stairs to the top of Memorial Tower with a group of friends. The stairs were metal and rickety and I was convinced they were gonna collapse.

I remember the incident with Mike and that guy in 88 . LSU police had to rely on Jose Vargas to talk him down. Actually it was Jose who said to the cops that it was just a toy.

There was a rare book room in attic of Allen hall when the Architecture school was in that building. We used to sneak up there (it was the only part of the building where air conditioner worked and reade the books. It also had thesis of a lot of old professors on file there.

The old gym armory also had an old weight room upstairs. A squat rack, two benches and a speed bag.

One summer I took a weightlifting class that met there. Got to work out and get an easy A. Not sure why I didn't take more classes like that.

S stadium dorms.... they turned it into office space. That was my office/lab in late 80s.
It was pretty miserable even w ac, and drafty in winter.
Gym amoury ... played ball hockey there into early 90s. Was on the broad st bullies

I don’t think so. We walk the amphitheater as part of our hiking training and I think it’s a thing of the past.

Was this the basketball player that lost his shite and went inside of Mike’s cage?

I think he was a helper with the team. He was from Dominican Republic and his work/student visa had expired and he was looking at having to leave the US for a period of time. He wanted to stay in the country and have his family given visas as well. I'm not sure how all the legal issues worked out in the end, but I think Coach Brown was able to talk to the court to grant him a little leniency rather than throwing the book at him.

Ernie had a good pair of binoculars in his room while we were waiting for everything to calm down so we could leave to go eat. You could see the seams of the plastic along the top of the gun that made us think it was a toy as well. We kept trying to get a look at the muzzle to be sure, but he never faced that way toward us. But yeah, it turned out to be a toy UZI squirt gun that used two C-size batteries.

Working construction while going to college in the early 90s I have been in all those areas. Nothing really fascinating to report……

Add in going in some of the attics in the older buildings and seeing chairs and pillows next to the AHUs with “doors” the maintenance staff could open so they could stay cold while sleeping while on the clock
