I didn't read through the whole thread but when I hear someone say "walla" instead of "voila". It happens all the time on TV.

Sorry Masterag, the "l" is silent in salmon. Drives me batty when I hear someone use the "l" annunciation. Now, if you're referring to the high school in Slidell (Salmen), that's different...and I think, proper...to annunciate the "l".

I noticed about 3 years ago that my grandmother (approaching 100 years old) says "phantom" for fathom.

Obviously did not have the heart to correct her.
