you can hustle you can make money selling anything. It’s really as simple as that.

No, it’s really not

There is absolutely no money in most sales, at least compared to typical unskilled white collar jobs.

Selling specialized scanning equipment to cancer hospitals and going door to door scamming people for home security is not the same thing.

JFC the assumption of course is you work for a legitimate company selling a legitimate product and of course you may have to start humbly and work up.
The shite that has to be spelled out for some of you losers is ridiculous.

Commissioning engineers for any and all heavy equipment. If you like to travel you can easily pass $200k a year.

Find a company selling anything heavy industry that requires commissioning. Turbines, generators, compressors, switchgear, etc.

If you have solid basic math and science skills and want to work in air conditioning then medical PA/NP, and nurse anesthetists are always in demand. The former two make about $130k (but can make a lot more) and the latter in the $250k range.

And every one I know are miserable

I was just looking at this in depth today.

I am a civil engineer with advanced schooling and the ability to leap into big tech/AI... but that sector is like a bunch of rats trying to funnel into a sewer drain, every talented kid coming out of STEM is trying to breakthrough in an industry full of layoffs. Meanwhile, universities graduate 12,000 civil engineers a year... with 20,000 retirees per year.

Wage growth for Civil has absolutely exploded over the past 5 years.

pretty much

Traditional engineering- civil, mechanical, chemical....are not going anywhere and demand is only increasing.

I’ll add CAD designers to it. They make about $50/hour and are in high demand.

Civil engineer isn’t as sexy as the others but the work tends to be steady. Definitely not enough graduates coming out.

al true but also depends on civil. so many go dotd...that is not a good career imo. also many tend to not want to specialize which is a mistake imo.

I’m not a civil engineer but worked my last summer in college for a DOT. I took a job with an oil company out of college and started off making more money than engineers with masters degrees that had years of experience at the DOT. As a side note, I saw people that did absolutely zero work there the entire summer.

Many people, including here, underestimate the difficult working conditions for those jobs.

I met many a welder who in their 30s and 40s had terrible eye sight and/or basically crippled hands.
