I've always said one of my biggest regrets was not going into Process Technology.
Pharmacy sounds good too if you stay collegiate..

Learn SEO, adwords, and other digital marketing. With 5 years experience they are easily making $75-100K if they are any good. It's easy to go out on your own as well because you dont have the overhead of needing a physical location or the insurance that comes with many other jobs.

Go to college or join the military

Id recommend a job in Environmental, Health & Safety. As time goes on, regulations will get even more strict when it comes to safety and environmental wastes. Its a career I really wish I wouldve known about when I was younger. Salary is over 6 figures once you have CSP certification and that takes 5 years experience to get once you pass the exam.

Plumber... focus on new construction... make bank
This ^. Apprentices in new commercial construction make 14-16 an hour with no experience. That goes up a couple dollars with every year.
You dont have to deal with unclogging toilets full of shite, you have plenty of opportunities for OT, and can work side gigs on the weekend.

The advice I would recommend is to go to college and get a specialized degree that will be in demand for the next 40 years of the kid’s life.
What exactly would that be, every profession has had and will have downturns in demand, even engineering, and computer science.

Skills are more important than a job description.
Learn how to do basic software development, like at code academy or such. Even if you're never a developer, the ability to break down a problem to its component parts is shocking uncommon.
Also, basic financial literacy.

I would first tell them to be realistic and then work hard to achieve the highest bench in whatever they do decide to go into. With that said, if they are not going to college to be an engineer, doctor, lawyer, teacher, architect or work in the media (mass communications) then they should look into going to a technical school.
There is a need for more good plumbers. I know it doesn't sound like the ideal job, but can make money. Any type of services that is required in building a house (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc).
What about draft/design? He could become a pipe/mechanical designer, industrial designer, electrical designer, etc..
He can go get a job at a tire company and find a good place to open up his own hire shop. You can make some money selling tires.

Learn to code. Developers and architects are in high demand. Almost all companies have to go overseas to find talent. Usually requiring sponsorship on a visa.
