nfathomable for me to ever watch professional wrestling on television.
I'm more impressed by those who spend money and time to go see it in person.

WNBA
Video game championships
Not all predetermined, sure, but I can ask the same question as you are.
The pro wrestling guys are all professional stuntmen and there’s a VERY small amount of people on this earth that can do what they do at that level. Same as other sports.

I watched it religiously when I was a kid and I eventually figured it out around 12-13. Even then, I see them as a cross between actors, top tier athletes, and stuntmen. Hell, it’s less scripted than the NFL these days.
That being said, I can’t understand parents who deliberately ruin their kids suspended disbelief. Life sucks enough already when you get older, so why not let kids believe what they want while they’re younger and eventually let them connect the dots? I guess some people need their 5 year old to be as jaded and cynical as they are.

My great grandmother watched wrasslin when I was a little kid. She thought it was real, and thought they were beating the shite out of each other. I can remember my pops and his siblings getting a big kick out of it. He explained to me back then that it was fake, so I never remember thinking it was real.

I grew up in the early 80's in the Sherwood forest area on BR. I life close to Grizzly Smith and would see many of the Mid-South wrestlers close to where I lived. Buzz Sawyer, JYD and Hacksaw Duggan I remember seeing several times. Whether or not they actually lived around there IDK but they were cool dudes, (to us kids anyway).
I feel like I kind of always knew or suspected those guys weren't really mad at each other, I guess I was about 10-13 when I actual started thinking about it. probably because that's about the age where people start telling you how fake it is (usually older brothers) just to piss you off or make fun of you for yachting it.. lol.
Good times.
I remember watching Kung-Fu Theatre leading up to Mid South Wrestling every Sunday. May favorite was the Drunken Master ( Jackie Chan)

I was about 12 also. I used to go and see it live at the fairgrounds in Richmond, VA. We lived nearby and could walk when the wrestlers were in town. It was a sad discovery.

My friends and I started going when we were 16 and could drive ourselves.
Every Monday night at the Tulsa Fairgrounds Arena.
Cowboy Bill Watts was the promoter.
This was in the mid-70s. General admission tickets were only $2.
It was just something to do to get out of the house with your buddies to have some fun while staying out of trouble.

My brother told me that there was no way The Claw would destabilize Kamala The Ugandan Giant by Von Erich. That it was all fake. Ketchup packets, no added turnbuckles etc.
I was four, slightly bummed for about a day. Then watched next week and had a great time watching it as if they were actors wanting to entertain me.

I mean even at a young age I remember asking "Where is the blood?" It would probably get a lot less hate if it wasn't called wrestling.

Probably 11. I used to work with a guy in his 40’s that watched it constantly. He got pissed because I told him that was for kids and they weren’t athletes. They were just actors on steroids

I remember the Masked Medic was from Parts Unknown and I asked Gramps where was that.
