If it’s in the care of The Westin aren’t they responsible for purchasing you a new truck?
Most of the valet service at these major hotels is subbed out to other companies. Those valet guys are not hotel employees.
Also, you can buy those valet tags all day long on Amazon.

I emailed the link to this discussion and a screenshot with your comment about the details to Helena Moreno -- to her campaign and city council addresses.

The valet people could never find the key to my truck this morning, so when I checked the on star app it was clear across town. Video footage shows a few individuals driving off in my truck about 20 mins after it was parked. So they likely had their valet friend leave the key in the console.
The campaign address replied this morning and said, "can you send this to her council office (smhunter@nola.gov) so we can work on it asap!"
I did.
I do not know Helena or anyone on the council. I do not live in New Orleans.
Best wishes.

Tomorrow morning, call Marriot corporate and talk to the highest person you can reach and tell them based on the totality of circumstances, it’s reasonable to believe a representative of their hotel was complicit in the theft of your vehicle due to the fact they can’t produce your key. Tell them you’ve done all the right things but you feel that considering this was done on their watch and they can’t produce the key to your vehicle they are responsible. Tell the person that you will call back in 24 hours to give them time to unravel the situation and come to a reasonable resolution before you take further steps.
Leave it at that.
I would be filing suit and launching a professional social media campaign against Marriott.

You gotta stay on their arse. Call every day. Call every entity that’s involved. If you can find out their insurance info, call them too. Call call call. Do not let up. You have got to stay on their arse. Hotel, police, parking, etc…
The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Do not be passive and let whatever happens just happen.

In regard's to an inside job, I hope that's not the case . . .
But would explain a lot. Westin and the cops should have a nice little get together.
This is why most valet operations are seperate companies from the hotel. It keeps the risk off the hotel.
"What your Denali was stolen? Shoot we're sorry, call 1-800-PARKING and ask for Stan, he'll write you a "sorry" haiku. We don't actually park the cars".

BE sure and send that info to the Louisiana Tourism commission, along with this picture of Saints players wanting to defund the police. That should help with tourism.

No matter what a slip says, the Hotel/Valet service cannot do a Disclaimer for their own Negligence
If they gave the keys to the wrong person or one of their employees was involved (Improper Hiring Practices), they may owe you the value of your vehicle.
Press them

So you are trusting people that likely had something to do with your truck being stolen and hoping an insurance company whose job it is to pay as little as possible on every claim to treat you fairly?
How did your call with Marriot corporate go?
Also, you can change the title of this thread to “Westin New Orleans may have stolen my truck”. That’s a start…

quote:Deduction and knowing the situation personally. I was at the same hotel the same night and morning. My Dad picked me up from the airport the day before and used the same valet service. The lobby that mrorning was filled with people waiting too long to get their vehicles and I personally saw at the same time this was happening for the OP just how unaccountable the valet staff was. My Dad personally witnessed the OP himself being understandably frustrated with the valet as this was unfolding that morning and when I told him about this thread he immediately came to the same conclusion. He also feels sick for the OP in this piece of shite situation
How do you know all of this?

My favorite thread ever when you recovered the stolen motorcycle in Mississippi. Epic. Something like "I’m going to Mississippi with a trailer and coming back with a motorcycle" . And you did.
I’d like to preface this with I am genuinely kind to everyone I meet. That said, once you figure out exactly what you want, you should accept nothing less, ever… The cops in that town were reluctant to help me. I told them “you can go get it, or you can show up at the shop when you get called after I go get it. One way or another, I’m leaving with that motorcycle”.
OP, they want you to play by their rules and check the boxes. Write your own rules and tell them what an acceptable outcome is for you. How they achieve your acceptable outcome is of little concern to you. That is why you need to call Marriot corporate.

I will be calling in the morning. I spoke to front desk manager of The Westin and they had no clue. I will be calling the corporate office and just telling my story to anyone and everyone I get ahold of. Not sure what it will do but seems like the correct avenue

I'm sorry but this is the NOPD you are talking about. I'm sure the NOPD will be out to fingerprint everything and pull every surveillance camera within a 2 mile radius first thing in the morning. Welcome to the 1 in 54 Orleans Parish Club where one resident in 54 has their automobile stolen!
