The actual description from the Bible says:
"Hair like lambs wool, feet like bronze clay"
That doesn't dound like a blonde hair blue eyed Jesus to me

Just depict him as Shawn King, then everyone wins.

I think Ray Romano is about right.

I just assumed it was because hundreds of years ago people weren’t well-travelled like they are now. There was no TV and internet. The average person probably had no idea what people looked like in the area Jesus was from.
So painters probably just painted him like the people around them.
That’s what I always assumed.
This is correct.
You can argue that the blonde, blue-eyed portrayal is inappropriate today because we know better, and going with an inaccurate Aryanized depiction is making a political statement.
But the origins are innocuous and for the reason you stated.

I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo t-shirt, because it says
like I want to be formal but I'm here to party too.

This will end well, people will defend their mind's eye depiction of jesus to the death

If the color of our Lord is an issue with some folks then maybe those folks need to examine themselves and what God's lessons are.
There are some things that should be left out of this bullshite, this is the main one.

He may not have been white, but he definitely had flowing locks and washboard abs and I’ll fight anyone who claims otherwise.

I hope articles like these encourage people to read and understand the Word more and bring it into your own lives.
Jesus is probably the only person in history that can have His entire genealogy traced back to Adam, yet preexist before man.
Since Adam, the human race has had a problem with sin, not skin.
1Cor15:21-22 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
But it is responsibility and choice to follow Him and that is the gift of free will.
It is actually interesting to study the genealogies of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 1:1-17 describes the genealogy of Jesus as the legal heir as king through Joseph.
Mark does not list genealogy because a servant does not need one.
Luke 3:23-38 describes the genealogy of Jesus through Mary because he came as a man.
John 1:1-4 describes the genealogy of Jesus as God because He was there in the beginning when light itself was created by the very Word and He will be there in the end.
It is fun to see the parallels here with the four gospels with the four faces of the Cherubim.
The Lion - King
The Ox - Servant
The Man - Man
The Eagle - God
Yet He is all that and much more.

I've never seen a blond hair blue-eyed Jesus.
This is the only one I have seen in the Catholic church. I guess you could say he looks white, but it's taught he was Jewish.

His nose is where we have missed the mark, not his skin color.

Ok.
I posted pictures of only one Jewish person. The others are king Abdullah of Jordan (who claims lineage directly to Muhammed) and queen rania and then basar al asad of Syria.

Jesus was a Jew and most likely quite ugly. Probably had a big nose and wooly hair. Not the long flowing locks we see in paintings and film. He wouldn't have been known as anything special in the looks department. He also probably of average height or less. I love how films depict Him as being way taller than the disciples. I think it was The Story of Jesus that had a Portuguese model playing Jesus. Come on now. Nothing distinguished him from a plain ol common Jew. That's another reason He was rejected by them.
