I didn’t have much choice in the matter.
But their dad was there, and he watched each time. The nurses kept trying to position all these mirrors so I could see, which was not something I had ANY desire to do in the first place. Luckily my husband’s head was right in there to block the view.
Considering that he got more directly involved with each successive birth, I’d say it didn’t affect his “marital experience” in any negative way. I guess #2 and #3 probably also wouldn’t even be here if it had.

Yes and Yes. It was all good until the episiotomy.

I was born on a Saturday. My dad and my two older brothers were fishing out of Hopedale when it happened.
Got back, mom was gone and a note about going to the hospital was on the counter. Left my brothers there to clean fish and wash the boat. Went to the hospital to look at me all clean and wrapped up in a crib through the glass in the nursery.

i was there for the birth of all 8 natural births, some i stood behind the Dr like an umpire, i caught a couple and for the second to last one that we had complications with i stood next to my wife and the last one i also stood by her. i cut all 8 umbilical cords! no moods were changed by watching the births up close.

First was vaginal and no. Didn’t want to see all that nor did she want me to.
Second was c-sectio. I kept my squeamish arse on the other side of the curtain. No fricking way!

I stayed at the head of the bed. I love my kids, but there is no way I was looking at that nasty mess.

I was in the room for both our kids. They were both c-section births so I stayed on her upper side of the action. No need to see that.

They set up a mirror so you can do both.
