Honestly I don't think any of that compares to what the Chinese Commies did to their own people. Starved millions TWICE

Different methods of attacking the same goal. They’re at least on the same plane. And the Soviets for what they did to their own people as well and the Ukrainians. Still think for sheer assholery the Mongolians take the cake.

They say 1/200 men living on earth today are direct descendants of Genghis Kahn. A massive DNA study was done in the early 2000s.

National Geo

Genghis Khan, the fearsome Mongolian warrior of the 13th century, may have done more than rule the largest empire in the world; according to a recently published genetic study, he may have helped populate it too. An international group of geneticists studying Y-chromosome data have found that nearly 8 percent of the men living in the region of the former Mongol empire carry y-chromosomes that are nearly identical. That translates to 0.5 percent of the male population in the world, or roughly 16 million descendants living today.

And I love that professor. Kenneth Harl I think is his name.

Quick, somebody post the “I like rape” meme from Blazing Saddles.

Mongols were badass (aside from the rape) (believe all women). Religious tolerance, free and safe trade. You’re welcome, Silk Road.

If leaders surrendered to the Khans (before fighting) they were surprisingly tolerant. You could keep you religion and culture and in most recorded instances they would leave you be as long as you paid tribute.

If you defied them they would murder EVERYONE.

this

ya'll should read Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World. fantastic read. I consider it better than wrath of the khans

Okay just sprang for the great courses. Thank god he’s got a decent narrating voice. I just can’t listen to annoying voices, even if the info is solid

I’m in a steppe people wormhole right now even though I’ve listed to wrath of the khans about 3 times

Not the murder and torture?

The truth of the matter is nan was and has always been horribly violent. Rape and murder were simply par for the course. It was just what happened in sacks and raids and helped spread genetic material. One could even say that rape made the world.

Harl has several really good lectures. Check out his one on the crusades. I think it’s The Era of the Crusades.

So on one hand we have facts.

And on the other hand we have you just literally saying it anyway.

Hmmm. Toss up I guess.
